Negative 2.3% year over year sales. 11M in cash and 1.6B in debt. Book value is a -24.09!
This isn't just a stock valuation concern - this is a bankruptcy concern.
How DPZ managed to post higher earnings on lower sales is a mystery. How this stock trades at a very high 21PE is an even greater conundrum... Really, the highest a rational investor should pay for this stock is a mid single digit PE unless Dominos can show real growth and an ability to manage it's debt.
I guess this pop in the stock from the 20s must be a short squeeze or some kind of magic. If I owned this stock, I would thank god for this miracle and sell before reality comes crashing down on DPZ.
Nothing against Dominos, but Papa Johns really has their number and this space is way too crowded to make a buck. Delivered pizza is also such an easy thing to cut out of the family budget with the great frozen pizzas out there. Dominos really had it going in the 80s, but times have changed.
