    Before I forget this!!

Just tried to watch ABC network coverage of Reagan procession to Air Force One and here is my perspective: Peter Jennings is one too many Canadians in America. Period.

    • <<the misguided effort of our government to protect us from ourselves>>

I want little protection against myself but a lot of protection for the commons. I can understand the something for nothing attitude of the right in pillaging the commons but I was always hard pressed why they felt they needed to control the private me.

    • ,,I sincerely hope that somehow the "demand" for babies by couples unable to conceive and the "supply" of babies being carried by women with unintended and undesired pregnancies can be matched up to create a solution that respects all life.

Frankly, I'm baffled why it hasn't already happened... >>>

easy answer here. Remember when Gingrich was piloried for suggesting that children of unfit parents should be put in orphanages? The left wants and needs victums. Children are easy targets.

    • <<Murder is illegal. Why? Because God said "Thou shalt not kill?" WRONG. YOU COULDN'T BE MORE FUCKING WRONG. It's because people have a RIGHT not to be murdered. THAT'S WHY.>>>

Well, not quite. Murder is wrong because it is contra survival. Killing may or may not be wrong depending on the circumstances. Killing to protect the tribe is a survial factor. Killing within the tribe on a whim, to garner an unequal share of food or other survival items is also contra srvival. Homosexualality, intercourse with sheep, farting in church is also contra survival. Keeping kosher was, at one time, survival factor and is now just a tradition. This is a facinating subject.

    • "Give your daughter a big hug and thank God you were never in a position to have to make her a "choice" as many people sadly are."

I give her a hug whenever she's not too embarrassed for one.

There is no "choice". Either someone wants children to continue the line, or one does not. If someone wants to share an orgasm, they are flirting with having children. People are too stupid to know that.

Marriage is an idea that was invented to create an environment to have children. People who fuck around are fucking around with the future. When they learn that was true, abortion is their retroactive answer.

It really does come down to getting along. Pkewl and I share an ideal, and argued fiercely when we first met over this dumbass stock, but learned that we could get along.

People just a generation who is leaving things to the next generation. Killing that generation is not the answer. Living in a way that "does no harm" is the answer.

    • Pardon me while I focus on this key word you used, "IDEAL".

Ideal doesn't exist. It is a sense. A sense that one uses to strive.

To create your ideal society you have to creaet parents that want their kids, who want to raise kids who themselves become good parents.

In the dumbass business sense, it is about quality. Quality people creating quality products (chidren), who happen to create more quality.

People ask me if I am a pessimist, an optimist, or a realist. My answer is always that I am an idealist, one who wants the best, but knows that the "best" is obstructed by reality, and reality is often negative.

Bottom line, the Creator succeeded in creating flaws. Everything great does.

Shall we change the topic to aliens, alient abduction (foley, this is your cue for rectal probing).

    • << Frankly, I'm baffled why it hasn't already happened... >>

I think one reason is the often extreme difficulty in adopting, due to various regulations, agencies, paperwork and other government hoops. Which I'm sure were devised to protect people from having their babies stolen and sold, but which has backfired, as does most everything the government does.

In a free society, one is free to DO something about things one is concerned about, but most people just demand that the government "do something about it."

I'm often reminded of the Aesop fable, "The Frogs Asking For A King" which goes like this:

THE Frogs, grieved at having no established Ruler, sent ambassadors to Jupiter entreating for a King. He, perceiving their simplicity, cast down a huge log into the lake. The Frogs, terrified at the splash occasioned by its fall, hid themselves in the depths of the pool. But no sooner did they see that the huge log continued motionless, than they swam again to the top of the water, dismissed their fears, and came so to despise it as to climb up, and to squat upon it. After some time, they began to think themselves ill-treated in the appointment of so inert a Ruler, and sent a second deputation to Jupiter to pray that he would set over them another sovereign. He then gave them an Eel to govern them. When the Frogs discovered his easy good nature, they yet a third time sent to Jupiter to beg that he would once more choose for them another King. Jupiter, displeased at their complaints sent a Heron, who preyed upon the Frogs day by day till there were none left to croak upon the Lake.

    • Keeper, I respect your bravery to know the truth--it's tough to look at. And as you realize, not being aware of the facts doesn't change the reality of it. If more people truly knew what abortion was all about and then realized what they were doing to what would have been their own descendant (not to mention of THEIR parents and grandparents, etc.) there would not be the 2000+ abortions performed everyday--mostly out of convenience.

Give your daughter a big hug and thank God you were never in a position to have to make her a "choice" as many people sadly are. And most without the facts that too many feel are too distasteful to discuss. So very very sad. I pray for the souls of these aborted children every day with my 3-year-old daughter (no, I will not tell her what abortion is until she is much much older, but I believe that children have a special connection to God when they pray). For people of my faith (Catholic), they are indeed in a much better place. It is us who lost out on their unrealized talents, personalities, and love.

God bless you, your family and your courage. And, yes, now back to BioLase.

    • Exactly, Jay.

So then it boils down to, how do we best create the ideal society where people act with integrity, compassion, responsibility and love?

I don't think the Constitution and Declaration of Independence are perfect, but I think they're probably the best attempt so far to establish a society where, through the harsh principles of Social Darwinism, we can get there from here. And I certainly don't believe, in this era of morally bankrupt, hypocritical, corrupt, vote-grabbing politics, that our glorious leaders are qualified to create a new federal mandate for achieving this vision.

We cannot successfully legislate morality or responsibility. Some people will be harmed by those who are irresponsible or negligent in their liberty, but far more are harmed in the other instance. Just as heroin and cocaine are addictive and to some extent physically harmful, and thus some users of these drugs will die--but when they are made illegal, instead of dozens or hundreds of deaths, there are tens of thousands. All in the misguided effort of our government to protect us from ourselves, which is not, after all, one of the duties or responsibilities of the government.

    • It's been interesting debating the subject with you. I do tend to get highly charged about issues like this and have been known to post a knee-jerk reaction or two. No offense taken.

I sincerely hope that somehow the "demand" for babies by couples unable to conceive and the "supply" of babies being carried by women with unintended and undesired pregnancies can be matched up to create a solution that respects all life.

Frankly, I'm baffled why it hasn't already happened...

    • Fegg, what you describe is actually worse than abortion in my opinion. Harming an unborn child with smoking, alcohol, cocaine whatever ends up with a child the is harder to adopt, and is often adopted by the public.

People who do this or make choices like this just shouldn't exist. The real question of this whole debate is "What should we do about this kind of person?" Unfortunately the deity's act of creating people imperfect was done too well.
