Gevo chief executive Patrick Gruber, who joined the company last month, said the company is still very much in the development phase. He said the attractive thing about this area is that there’s no intellectual property that blocks the company from developing anything (we took this as a thinly veiled swipe at rival start-up entrepreneur Craig Venter’s patent claims). “It’s a freakin’ free for all,” he said. “Outsiders are going to win. There is no possibly way for these big [incumbent energy] companies to shed their baggage.”
Gevo has licensed technology in the labs of Frances Arnold at Caltech
Grueber is Richard Bransons man. He's not going anywhere. Grueber is like that crazy mad scientist genius type that Branson likes. Investing with Virgin Funds and then turning it over to people just like Grueber is Bransons style...Hes not neat and orderly suit and tie type. Hes a mad hatter genius type...Thats how Virgin Fund became soo big.....Its crazy mad genius types..
yeah I hear you, but being a mad scientist doesnt necessary make him a good CEO i.e leader, communicator all those values a real CEO must have. Gruber dont have none of that in the matter of fact his got values that really hurt the Co arrogance come in mind.. but as you said he might be a good scientist.
yeah no kidding. His comments show arrogance (under estimating the competition) lack of experience and leadership. This is after SIX YEARS being a CEO. He has got to go, the board will need to show him the door!
