Just like a "in door" water dispenser / ice dispenser is on every fridge door these days, how long before all the other manufactures follow suit now that Samsung is first out of the gate?
Wouldn't Samsung have a utility patent preventing copy-cats from just jumping in? Didn't Whirlpool have the patent with SODA? What's the story? Seth, can you comment? I know you were first to this many months ago.
It's generally good as this sort of thing promises to be very high margin.
Samsung gets a competetive edge. But under what T's and C's?
Was it a limited exclusive deal?
If limited, how long?
Understand that Mr. Daniel B is creating a lifesytle brand.
Just like Nike. Where did that come from? Amazing? I say not. I say expected.
Apparently you haven't seen appliance shoppers go from one store to the next looking for the best deal. They are the tightest shoppers ever. The mom's carry clipboards and notes.
Also, people need to buy fridges of a certain size to fit their kitchens. For now, this is a limited market.
DrJ...I agree. A four-door 35 Cubic Foot fridge is a beast that is not going to fit in many kitchens. And the $3900 price is close to double what a really nice fridge costs.
I'm wondering if the fridge needs to be that big to accomodate the SODA machine or if Samsung just decided to add it to their Deluxe fridge that they always planned to make oversized.
Hopefully, the SODA add-on can be sold someday in a normal sized fridge. I'm guessing that with all new technologies the price point will come down dramatically over time and the size will will do the same.

Apparently you don't live in the real world where once someone has a good or innovative idea it is copied over and over like a Hollywood movie franchise. This WILL become the norm, I'd bet all two of my shares on it!
