Hard to believe there is still over 2 million in this - just goes to show that some people never check investments. What is the date that this thing will be forced to close? Is it 2 years from inception? How much trouble will it be for people who forgot to get their money out to get what is left of the funds?
It can't go on much longer. The October month end holdings report shows assets at $1.8 mm, mostly in cash, as per usual, $300 k in index funds and 100 shares of stock. There are not enough assets to generate fees to cover expenses, so he is personally eating a fair amount of the fund's expenses. Whenever he has had enough of losing his own money is when he will throw in the towel and close up shop. Notably, his blogging has trailed off with the assets. It'll be mildly interesting to see what he winds up doing next, but this hand does seem to be played out.
It is incredibly strange - he never even tried to make this work. Petrified with fear as soon as he had a few dollars of real money to trade with. I told him long ago that trading with real money doesn't work the same way as when you are trading a few shares. He never even tried - just froze like a deer in headlights. It's sad - I always like to see kids live their dreams and do well.
