The Tesla auto pilot is clearly not ready for prime time. Read the reports of these crashes and it seems that car reacts suddenly with no time for the driver to take back control. By the way there have been other crashes. I also find it interesting that Mobile Eye dropped Tesla as a customer. They do not want their name associated with this mess.
This post is talking about the new 100k 300+ mile version of the S and X which is twice the cost. Also you may want to visit the Tesla forums that discuss the wait times to get repairs done to these cars. Tesla cars seem to have a vast array of problems.
In the past two days I read of and saw pictures of two more Auto Pilot related crashes. One was in Texas and one was in the Carolina's. They both suddenly veered off the road and crashed into guard rails. The one in Texas : The guy said that thank god he was in a Tesla(lol) and would not sue but his insurance company said they contacted Tesla and may sue. The other accident just happened and the Doctor driving the car posted pictures on Seeking Alpha. Elon is still having his customers beta test the Auto Pilot is akin to Nero fiddling while Rome burned.
It looks like Elon burns another bridge. Other collaborations like Damiler and Toyota did not turn out well because of Elon's ego problem. Let's also not forget that a slew of top executives have left the fold. I think we are going to a accelerate into the abyss. What we have here a is a company that can't complete and perfect one business before jumping onto the next new one. It is like a kid who can't complete one model car kit before starting another one.
