j1, I agree with you. Guidance was so far discounted that this move is not really that much out of line. IMHO the stock becomes very attractive in $17-$18 range.

J, for the average Joe you may are spot on. I am and have historically been, until a year ago, financially in the top 10% of the country. Sickness, children, theft and stupidly cost me more than half of my net worth. I mentally went from; I will never have a financial problem the rest of my life to that of wondering if I have enough to make it through the rest of my life. When the rubber hits the road, I realize that I am far from the poverty line and will not miss a meal, but I feel poor as heck. Going from being able to write a check for anything I wanted to now needing to evaluate seriously any major purchase I make is quite uncomfortable and unnerving for me. $3 MM in bonds did provide a reasonably good interest income, even after taxes, but unfortunately, that is not the situation I am in today. So, I decided to use what brain cells are left in this old mind of mine and capture as much divvy income as possible with only a moderate amount of risk. If that's possible. Sorry, I did not mean to get carried away.

regnum, It appears to me that ALJ is preparing itself to be offered for sale. That is probably the reason for insider buying. My bet it already has some buyers or buyer lined up. JMPO.

J, generally I do not trade a stock unless I have done extensive DD on it. Even when they are recommended on the board I go through a DD routine that I have developed for myself before I even consider buying a stock. Occasionally, I will take a flyer on a stock with only limited DD as I did with LUV or CLNE. In each case, I had my own reasons. LUV seemed to me to be a serious overaction to some actually pretty good earnings. What killed the immediate rebound was the 3rd quarter guidance of a projected 2-3% decline in RSAM. Nothing serious, but it does not take much to #$%$ the market these days. CLNE is a misunderstood small company that has had the heck beat out of it because of a looming loan payment which they subsequently made. That being done it can easily rise back to the $5 range from whence it fell and the pps was so low that a nice profit could er made on a little investment.

j1, I truthfully dont know how he did it as there was scarcely any opportunity to do so if you were long the stock. Shorting it was a different scenerio. You could have made a bundle, but he says he traded it long , so I guess his systems works. It amazes me that anyone could make money trading LUV long this day, but he said he did and I don't know enough to call him a liar so I have to accept it's true. Beside that, he is an officer and a gentleman and they never lie. : )

Very true J, Thanks for the info. I am going to keep an eye on that $36.50 figure tomorrow and kind of play the situation as it goes. Any kind of upward movement in the next few days and I am golden as I now have an average cost of $37.56, so I am right there to capture any rebound. What I was questioning about in my post was the market in general. I saw a lot of red today in my account. So much so, that I actually ended up the day with a $3k loss. A lot of that loss came from that butt-kicking I took on KMI, but even so, there still was a lot of red in my high-income portfolio. That much red makes me think that this was a profit taking day. Those days are usually when I like to make purchases, but was unsure if this pull-back would last or intensify tomorrow, as it is a Friday.

slick, You are correct. This was a simple couple of day trade for me. From what DD, I did do, LUV looked like a strong candidate for a rebound. In any case, it is one of the better airline holds if I determine that is what I want to do. What I did do was get my average cost down to $37.52 so I am still in the game and down only $0.18 ps at the close. Apparently, the 1 cent miss was not the problem, but that of a potential "iffy" upcoming quarter where they projected to see a 2-4% decline in RASM. Let's see how the market reacts the next few days. I believe they have over reacted on the news, but then again, in this market who knows.

slick, If you are referring to me, da bear, may I suggest you come down off your high horse for a minute and we review the situation. I tend to use aa nickname or abbreviation for every poster. None are nasty, rude, derogatory or mean spirited. No even yours. For some reason, when I see your handle I think of president Clinton ie, slick willie . Think of it as a compliment. I believe I told you this before but, I try and treat everyone on this board with respect as they all bring something to the game. If I have offended you, please accept my apology. If slick willie is too much of an albatross for you to carry I shall just call you slick.

Good point J1, that is why I am being so dang cautious. Just recently I unaccustomedly did try to hit a couple of home runs, but so far to no avail. One was simply on a whim and the other I feel I will still get the right pitch on to hammer it out of the park. Also, like you, J and Phi, I am slowly withdrawing my profits from the market. Still, if I am going to reap any profits I have to be in the game. Especially in this crazy bull market. I believe it was Phil who posted that one of his favorite authors indicated that we are going to be in a prolonged bull market. I am not sure what prolonged means but to me, that is at least a month or two more. Also, unlike so of you young bucks, some income is important to me. I try hard to get at least $2,500-$3,000 in divvies per month to help upgrade and maintain my life-style.

slick, Read your reply, thank you. Are you suggesting that I sell out the LUV today at a small loss? My gut feeling is that e that this type of sell-off is generally an overreaction and some semblance of recovery occurs within a few days. What's you thinking on LUV for next week?

Well folks, it looks like today is a red day. Not that I am a commi, pinko #$%$, but those red days happen, even to the best of us. My question is, should I be buying on this down day or not. Part of me says that this is the time, while another part says tomorrow is Friday and if we are going to get some major profit taking, it will be on a Friday. Therefore, do I wait until tomorrow to restock? What are the rest of you folks doing?

Phil, most interesting. If I understand you correctly, he apparently feels we are now in a long term Bull market and that it is fairly safe to be invested as much as your risk tolerance will accept.

regum, you are probably correct. I jumped on the LUV situation for a fast trade only. Like you, I am not a big fan of the airline stocks right now but, If one wants to hold an airline IMHO, LUV is one of the better ones to have. JMPO.

slick willy, Thanks for the tip. After some quick DD IMHO, you are correct on this call . I have made money on your calls before, so I really appreciate the heads up. Recently put my order in at $38.35 and I just now got them. I am not the greatest technical trader, but it appears we have some support in the $37.50 range if it continues to keep falling which again, IMHO, will not happen as it looks like it is already building a base to retrace some of today's loss. j, actually I have been selling into this market as much as I can and still make a buck. Doing that has kind of interrupted a nice divvy cash flow scenario that I had planned, but IMHO, "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush."

J, Very interesting move. Are you considering re-entering MRCC again? This rush for yield is pushing it up into nose bleed territory as far as I am concerned. I am a fan of the company but the yield has been so compressed that it lost a lot of its attractiveness. How does the collective feel about MRCC at its current level?

tulsa, not real familiar with the CLNE, but the scenario looks interesting enough that on a quick review, for me to pick up some shares on the cheap. Appears we may have had another over-reaction by the market to some potentially bad news. What's your take on the situation there?

Ocki, A rebound here looks interesting. What attributed to the recent big loss? Was it the issuance of the new shares to pay off the loan?

Guys, IMHO, the housing market in Canada is much different that from that of the US There are large physochigal and financial differences toward home ownership, loans and foreclosures between the two countries. Having dual citizenship and living and working in both countries, contributes to one's understanding of that. JMPO.
