Humans do very poorly at monitoring automated systems. This is a problem even with commercial pilots, so I can only imagine how well the general public will do.

Tesla Motors (NASDAQ:TSLA) is down 2.5% after hours on news from Reuters that U.S. regulators are opening a probe into the use of the Model S automated driving system linked to a fatal crash.
Audi, BMW, Daimler, and General Motors arent the only companies pulling ahead of Tesla. Volvo, Honda Ford and VW are also moving quicker than Tesla.

If NHTSA is still seeking information on the failures, and I think they are, TSLA is going to tank.
