Expensive? Volatility is down hard and pretty much near typical levels. I rarely sell covered calls anyway. I do like buying deep ITM LEAPS calls when I see a great deal though. The last one was SHPG 2018 110 strike when the stock was at 150ish. But hey, you've got your 'system', and I've got mine.
My 20+ years investing says a diversified portfolio is not a gamble if you know what you're doing.. but hey, you believe otherwise if you want. good luck at the casino.... take black i hear it's the hot pick these days.
You have a funny way of choosing market peaks as if that is somehow a suitable reference point.
@New data from Coinbase, which offers the leading bitcoin wallet and a popular bitcoin exchange, proves that the prospect of Brexit had an impact on bitcoin even before the referendum vote.In the week leading up to the vote (June 13-20), Coinbase saw a 55% increase in new account sign-ups from Great Britain, and a 350% increase in bitcoin purchases from UK customers. On the day of the Brexit vote, Coinbase saw an 86% increase in Great Britain signups. It's one of the largest spikes in activity Coinbase has ever seen from one region in one week. The British bitcoin bump is a reminder, a Coinbase spokesperson says, that bitcoin "has long been a hedge against turmoil in Greece, capital controls in China, and macro-economic issues." Indeed, many compare the coin to gold as an investment vehicle. The current market cap of all bitcoins is $10.1 billion.
How the #$%$ is it not an 'own'. If I am not running on margin, I own the shares of the company I chose to buy into. Stop the BS talk.
My take on why 'God' does not interfere... This is an experiment that we call 'The Universe". You design it , let it run to its conclusion while collecting data, then analyze the results and design and execute the next one.
Problem solved. Onto the next one.
@It's the beginning of the end for the Antarctic ozone hole. A new analysis shows that, on average, the hole — which forms every Southern Hemisphere spring, letting in dangerous ultraviolet light — is smaller and appears later in the year than it did in 2000. The 1987 global treaty called the Montreal Protocol sought to reduce the ozone hole by banning chlorofluorocarbons, chlorine-containing chemicals — used as refrigerants in products such as air conditioners — that accelerated ozone loss in the stratosphere. The study shows that it worked. “We as a planet have avoided what would have been an environmental catastrophe,” says Susan Solomon, an atmospheric scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, and a pioneer in the field of Antarctic ozone loss. “Yay us!”
I wonder if the recent price shenanigans were related to the conversion of preferreds into common shares? Lumber futures contract prices certainly did not move in any significant way when WY took a dip, and attributing it to Brexit makes little sense either. Anyway good to see the stock back on track.
@WY today announced that the Company's outstanding 6.375% Mandatory Convertible Preference Shares, Series A will convert into Weyerhaeuser common shares effective July 1, 2016 at a rate of 1.6929 Weyerhaeuser common shares per Preference Share. No action by holders of Preference Shares is required. The company anticipates issuing a total of approximately 23 million Weyerhaeuser common shares in conjunction with the conversion, based on approximately 13.8 million Preference Shares outstanding as of June 28, 2016.

and touch NILSY. Don't be afraid, she won't bite. But she will continue to pay you a big fat dividend year after year after year. Nickel is a commodity just like all the other metals. It may seem ugly and boring compared to that shiny useless yellow metal, but NILSY produces lots of PGM's too, like palladium and platinum, as well as copious amounts of plan jane copper. LME nickel inventory is dropping like a rock. China is importing lots of refined nickel even as Indonesia starts up NPI production. And Philippines has a new loose cannon that might pull a nickel ore ban out of his hat. Finally nickel is going into supply deficit in 2016, and nickel prices have been moving up this year.
and ~200M shares in VMW tracking stock is issued to EMC shareholders, will the main institutional shareholders promptly dump it and crash VMW stock price again? Or will they hold and accumulate whatever the smaller fish decide to sell and drive the price up to pre-merger valuation?
Zacks is reporting the DJ sale to close by end of July.
