There was a time when this nation could afford to fund all the government programs aimed at helping the poor and disadvantaged citizens of this nation. But over time, the cost of these programs has grown unmanageable because congress expanded them and promised more and more benefits to more and more people without really figuring out where the money would come from. All the while, this nation has become dependent on government spending needed to support this nation's military industrial complex and to fund corporate welfare and subsidize special interests. Tax revenue haven't kept up with spending. The bulk of the taxes collected by the government now come from the wealthiest 20% of this nation. Government livelihood depends on their continued prosperity. It would be wise to keep them prosperous and happy. In other words, “Don't bite off the hand that feeds you”!
Paying even more taxes to fix what can't be fixed doesn't help me. I pay lots of taxes already and it isn't my fault the systems broke. I'd rather preserve assets to deploy after the failure. Better yet...profit in advance of the failure...no?
More bad press:
FE's response so far has been total arrogance! Jeeze; doesn't FE have any clue about how to handle public relations?
The Upgrades & Downgrades history for HBAN shows that Citigroup initiated coverage of HBAN with a HOLD on 6/25/08. On October 14, 2008, Citigroup upgraded HBAN to a BUY with a price target of $11 -- HBAN closed at $!0.13 on that day. HBAN traded as high as $11.02 on 10/28/08 and closed at the target price of $11 that day never to reach it again. Congratulations to all investors who managed to make money based on Citigroup's recommendation. LOL!

You are right! Reagan dropped America's energy independence goals. Chalk another one up to the Gipper!
"THE DAILY HERALD October 1983 Section 1 Reagan drops energy independence campaign From WASHINGTON The Reagan administration formally abandoned the national goal of energy independence on saying the United States will rely some on Arab oil imports for at least the next 20 years"
I doubt any taxes are paid on winnings. No taxes are withheld on payments.
I'm glad I dumped GE in the $50s. Take heed! Buffet buying the preferred shares will leave common shareholders out in the cold when the house of cards collapses. Buffet will feed like a vulture on the remains.

Look at what Buffet did to Dairy Queen! It's another American tradition that ain't what it used to be! Has anyone noticed that their ice cream tastes different. Did they cheapen up the ingredients?
