People aren't satisfied with having equal rights under the law anymore, they demand social equality independent of culture and values. Its making everyone crazy, imo.
Its misapplication of the maxim "that which doesn't kill us makes us stronger".
I sure hope we're right. Otherwise we're doomed.
There are some universal 'good's I think, as far as humanity is concerned. We would all like to be safe from being randomly murdered or robbed for what we have. We generally agree in protecting the weak from the violence of the strong. Almost everyone recognizes their own inability to live without making endless mistakes and poor judgments about things great and small. We've adapted to a level of forgiveness we give each other.
But the authority about good and evil, I think you make your best point. Its just exceedingly complex.
Mean and unhelpful. And it takes you deeper into cynicism about humanity.
You're not Christopher Hitchens.
I would like to meet some of these good hearted atheists who live altruistic lives and rarely make intellectual mistakes or show their tempers.
I don't have conspiracy thoughts about that, Paula. Just follow the process and fix it, you have a couple of months.
I'll check it out. I do read conspiracy, but I can only think about it for awhile and then I have to stop. Its too depressing :) Not that it isn't true.
I think Mav was real. But he was real closed minded. One of the worst cases I've ever seen.
Why don't we stop for a moment and express our gratitude to be rid of Mav and Kibbles.
Mav expressed the worst side of religious belief. Kibbles was a broken insane day trader ghost.
I propose we could lay off the Christianity and Atheism bashing that doesn't get anyone anything. Same for Climate Change. Spend your time answering your own questions and doubts. Its all out there to read.
Politics and Markets are hard to separate, and I think should be fair game. It didn't used to be so much so. Energy and technology, globalism, immigration; the role, reach, cost and solvency of government; The incestuous links between government influence and Wall St. finance that run thru the Eccles building.
There are people who believe that talking about race in politics is racism. Except for people like Black Lives Matter, the University system social sciences departments, self appointed Social Justice Warriors, and all political racial lobbies like the UNCF, and the JDL. The people who have been designated as having no rights in the conversations are the ordinary citizens of the white middle class. If you think this way, I think you should rethink it. That insignificant group is 120.8 million adult voters, not all of whom are afraid to think for themselves even if they have been silenced from public discourse.
in any traditional way, that would lead to superior investment performance. It can only be modeled on politics. Thats the 21st century in a nutshell.
Or much more likely, become extinct.
The human mind doesn't process the concept of 'pointless-ness' all that well, imo. Some people ultimately console themselves through rationalizations of transient meaning, as its a skill we build from early childhood anyway as a means of psychological survival.
Its a bizarre twist that our human minds want a permanence that isn't real, want experiences to be meaningful when they are not.
What a spectacular waste it all will be. Painful and Meaningless. Knowledge and Money coming to nothing.
Just an ocean of mental illness and delusion in every direction.
People seeking political power are like plants seeking water and sunshine. It matters not to them if they're weeds or ornamentals. In all untended gardens, the weeds always win and create ruin.
