Those were the days Maw. And now look at us - going private. Two transactions in all those years IPO and going private. Amazing! What's not great about the American financial system. Other than credit default swaps......... lol
Slight modification to your rationale for going short in the 1st place. Guess you're still waiting on the edge of the cliff. Question is: Are you at the bottom or top of the cliff?
Yes, I see. DKS still has strong legs for growth at home and abroad......
Would have loved to have seen them pick up Lululemon a few years back. Check out lulu sales per sq ft.
Slightly, and X 4!
I use call it the DKS schollie fund for my 16 year old.
Now it's DKS schollie fund(+)....
Thank you Mr. Stack, and the whole DKS management team.
I've been checking in here periodically. I mostly like your objective insight. However, as in the distant past, i always like to engage the shorties. We have seen so many of them come and go. Don't get me wrong they serve a great purpose and you can certainly make big $$$'s shorting the right stock. However, DKS is not the one. No one ever got rich shorting DKS, yet. How many times have we heard the P/E ratio jibberish here? 1000, 2000, 10000 times? Doesn't mean Where's Waldo Wall St. could not be the first shortie to make some money. But I am still very bullish on DKS. Competitively speaking, DKS has a vastly superior managment team and operational execution is actually getting better and better.
Hey Pal, Where did I quote U? The "shorties" said the same thing about HD and WMT and what happened, Chump? Millions upon millions were made. I hope you aren't leveraged to the ying yang short on DKS. You will get burned like so many before that didn't learn the lesson of the market. Don't put your puts where your mouth is or you will get burnt.
Said the same thing about Home Depot and Walmart. When will the shorties learn not to mess with best in class retailers. Only way DKS get tow 27 is after it splits again.
PS; Hey Mawchek hope all is well.
Ruff, Doing what you do best - common sense research. These snarky shorties think they can influence the market, again.
This is the first call I've missed in two years. Looking forward to your typically precise summary.
Please provide details, if any given, on:
1. Growth plan schedule
2. References to the general economy
3. Overseas dollar valuation impact on COGS
A retailer that is compelling doesn't follow the pack.
A retailer that is compelling sets the pace. DKS is a compelling brand that will not be challenged externally until after it completes it's manifest destiny. And as long as we have the strong and competent leadership of Ed Stack this is the place to be.
we have much to celebrate.....
I pity the poor shorts who for whatever the myriad resons have choosen their course.
