The other poster is wrong. You definitely get the dividend. That's why the stock opened $2 lower this morning ... the $2 per share is taken out of the stock price and will be mailed to you as a check around Dec. 28. "When" a company announces a dividend has nothing to do with "whether" you get it ... it's determined by when the stock starts trading "ex-dividend" which is today... so any stockholders of record by close of market yesterday get the dividend.
Just bought in at 47.30 for the first time. Holders of record at today's close get $2 special dividend taxed at 15% rather than 25% - 39.6% tax rate next year. DKS is opening lots of stores nationwide and expect a very good Christmas season. So why would peple sell today (down 3%+) and miss out on the divident? I know the stock goes down $2 tomorrow but you'll be getting a check for that amount later this year. What am I missing? Constructive feedback without the #!*&? please.
SWHC may break above 11 in the next few months based on fundamentals but in the mean time what a trading opp bouncing back and forth between $9.35 and $10.80!
Nice call Check ... yesterday you posted that the stock would tank ... today it's up over 20% in a down market. You also said this board get's the award for the most BS ... well who's full of BS now. Hope you shorted, short on brains!
I've owned 5,000 shares of AOL since the TW merger and like the long term play ... but the July 18 earnings and mid-term visibility will be viewed very negatively by the market IMO.
I'm happy to escape at almost $50 with a small profit and expect to get back in after the earnings announcement in the low 40s. Good luck to all longs ... and don't let the bashers get you down.
You can't be a great company without great marketing. CPTH thinks you spell marketing P,R. They need a branding agency to position the company, develop the messaging and implement the programs.
We're about to announce earnings ... and anyone
that's announced earnings that haven't been blockbuster
have gotten killed ... 10% - 20% haircuts in one day.
Traders are now getting out a few days before earnings
announcements just to be safe. Long term investors should stay
in ... earnings will be very good, IMO, but who
knows if they will be good enough for this irrational
market. This stock is never boring.
