Just curious: if your prediction comes true, thousands of UPS employees will lose their jobs because of reduced volume. That volume will be shifted to very, very low paying, no benefit "vendors" of Amazon. Where do you stand on that situation?
Msch8864--Thank you sharing your market knowledge and expertise. Because of your timely and insightful post on this message board,(because I make all my financial decisions based off comments on message boards) I fired my advisor and sold off all of my stock and only buy and short what you post! Boy, I could have used you years ago. Please tell any green leprechauns you see Hello from me.
Also, the easter bunny will be at your door and you can share your stock tips with him too. I am sure you gave Santa an ear full of info back during his peak season. Keep on posting!
I believe the street does not have confidence in this senior management team. With a 2 out of 3 peak seasons failure rate---it simply doesn't give them the horsepower to pull this share price over $100. On a side note, could you imagine if Fred Smith reported a blowout earning report like the one Brown reported today?? Up $5 bucks easy!
It seems the one, or only catalyst that will move the share price well north of 100 will be overhaul of senior management positions. The Street has no confidence in current leadership, plain and simple. Sad but true
Dudesbag, I believe that the pressure must come from BOD as well as the market, via share price- unfortunately-- to shake things up. High level staff meetings, consisting of all the parties responsible for the "2014 Peak Blunder", are telling each other that they did a good job and events that they could not control are to blame, and the street has it all wrong, wish they never went public, and they are going to 'stay true to the course', and blah, blah, blah. But the share price will not move north with this current team in place. They simply have lost creditability with the market movers to place a premium on future earnings.
We will not see anything over a $hundred for a LONG time unless some changes are made.
Without a doubt, some answers are required from the BOD-
Regardless of actual time as the official CEO, Abney has held very senior management positions for many years-so there is no excuses that he is "new" to the position. There should have been no surprises. (other than less expensive fuel and relatively mild weather for peak-which are upside surprises!)
One could say the entire senior management committee should be shown the door. In fact, most are older than 55 years of age, so they should have been working their way towards the door anyway.
Wall St bankers/ market makers will not trust this leadership to maximize shareholder value, and the stock price will be directly (negatively) impacted until there is a change.
So, BOD- which is YOUR JOB--to hold management accountable
1) -"How are those in senior operation positions, who are compensated with tremendous incentives and benefits, being held accountable to the shareholders and employees for their complete failure to execute their most important task?
2) "How is the CEO being held accountable to shareholders for this blunder, despite the increased planning and forecasting from last years confusion, despite reduced weather related issues, and despite reduced expense in your fuel cost? What is being done to address this and prevent it from happening in the future?
It was a great ride going to $114, but not so much the other way!
Brilliant analyst Redbuckeye--have a walk out strike because it will sink the company stock price. This will greatly increase your ability to have more job security. Power to the people!
(you should read something other than comic books....it may help you make better decisions in life)
Share price sliding the last few sessions....wonder if this is in anticipation of a disappointing number next week or will more decline be waiting for us? Any whisper numbers floating out there?
uofm4me1--your post leads me to believe you are a whiner and goof ball. This is a message board for folks interested in the stock of UPS. Go complain to someone who can help you. They correctly put you on hold because you are a nut- -its a driveway, not a piece of furniture.
Folks taking a bit off after this huge run. Not to worry....me think back over 100 before too long. Many will want to own this as they go into the busy season.
If your prediction does come down the pike I would not be surprised if they end the healthcare insurance and go to a monthly stipend amount. IBM announced it shortly after ACA was in effect that retirees would be on this type of program. Would not be surprised if this happens. Retirees are the last link in food chain
Davis has done his 5 + years---and by all accounts done a great job with share price.
Any clues who will be next? An outsider??
