More accurately, selling Schaumburg down the river. But it seems Schaumburg isn't so easily sold! MSI wants some money back for their re-building.

"Trustee Tom Dailly was particularly skeptical about the employment threshold Motorola must maintain to be eligible for the reimbursement.

Motorola says it plans to keep 1,600 employees on the site, its annual TIF reimbursement would fall to half during any year the number of workers fell below 1,100. And the reimbursement would drop to zero in a year in which the number of employees fell below 650.

Dailly said those margins are too wide for his comfort, and that he would prefer to see Motorola's reimbursement drop by 10 percent for every 100 employees it falls below target.

He said he didn't want Schaumburg to be used and abandoned by Motorola and essentially become another Harvard, "

At least one public official knows his business!

I agree that they want something. I seriously doubt they can make their "target price". I think it's about getting 2% relatively risk free, along with fat "consulting" fees.

Where WILL the growth come from?

Certainly the typical "take it private, slash costs, and take public" won't work here. Greg did too good a job of cost slashing.

No visible growth in the future.

So, where is the upside for "going private"? No where.

There is an EXCELLENT post on seeking alpha, "Motorola Solutions: LTE Opportunity And Airwave Acquisition Mask A Struggling Business"

I urge you to read it. The author goes deep into MSI's business, and the Brownian aspect of MSI's direction. And he finds it severely wanting over the long haul.

Basically he is saying that Greg is wrecking the balance sheet to keep the dividend up, as well as buy back stock. He thinks that there can't be much more of that.

I fully agree. One wonders if the board will finally do its duty and ask "What about five years from now"???

    Sentiment: Strong Sell
