Guess Europe doesn't like it. Hate to say it but I hope it opens low in the states so I can get some under $7.

  • Nokia receives decision in patent license arbitration with Samsung - positive financial impact for Nokia Technologies

Nokia expects to receive at least approximately EUR 1.3 billion of cash during years 2016 - 2018 related to its settled and ongoing arbitrations in Nokia Technologies, including this award. Nokia has also earlier received some related prepayments.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

Good either way highbridge. Nokia is a great long-term investment. Samsung arbitration results will show in 2Q earnings. The dividend is coming. Synergistic savings are coming. Licensing will reach much higher levels. I will wait before buying anymore shares. I have plenty for my next 5 year timeline. If they get good money from Samsung then Apple and the new boy in town, Huwaie "licking my chops for this one as global mobile devices rose huge this year" will reward Nokia as licensing agreements come out, I will add more.

    GL Longs.

  • Apple's bottom line with patents is, and will forever reamin, negative. Apple settled with Ericsson a short while ago and is presumably going to pay billions of dollars for its extended license. Apple will continue to be a net payer vis-à-vis Nokia.

Apple has settled with everyone, even Ericsson, a case in which I think Apple could have made some great defensive headway that would have had a major positive impact on the situation surrounding standard-essential patents. Apple should also get out of this thing here now.

I have disagreed with both Apple and Samsung on their offensive cases and agreed with them on their key positions as defendants. In Samsung's case I took a critical position right away because its pursuit of injunctive relief over SEPs had me concerned; in Apple's case I used to be somewhat sympathetic for a while but the longer it took and the more apparent the shortcomings of Apple's patents as well as Apple's positions on remedies became, the more I spoke out in favor of the defendant's positions--as I do in connection with Ericsson v. Apple.

Line them up. Nokia is ready to knock them down.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • Nokia, Bell Labs, Lucent, Alcatel, parts of Siemens, Panasonic, Motorola, and many others are now united under the new Nokia. Can you imagine what power this gives Nokia now. Just think about it and the direction Nokia is taking with it. New technologies are being released and more are coming out of the pipe works. Exciting times.

NEW DELHI: Finnish telecom gear maker Nokia has pipped arch rival Ericsson to secure a three-year 4G network deployment contract from India's second largest telecom operator Vodafone for three of its most lucrative circles, a person familiar with the matter told ET.

"These three circles are new wins for Nokia, where Ericsson deployed older technology network for Vodafone India. Nokia will initially deploy limited 4G sites in these circles," the person said, requesting anonymity. Mumbai and Kolkata circles are part of Vodafone's first phase 4G launch while the Punjab circle will see future deployment by Nokia that will support 2G to 4G technologies, as per Vodafone's strategy.

Vodafone had acquired liberalized spectrum in the 1800 MHz band in Punjab in the February 2014 auctions. It offers only 2G services in the Punjab circle, while 3G services are being offered in an agreement with Idea Cellular.

Currently, Nokia manages a majority of telecom circles of Vodafone India in the country, and also possesses the largest share of their 3G networks in the country, the person said.
Vodafone, which has already launched services in select towns of Kerala and Karnataka circles, will increase the intensity of its 4G rollout covering important metros - Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata before March 2016, under the first phase of 4G launch in India.

Vodafone has launched 4G high-speed data services on the 1800 MHz band using the FDD-LTE technology, and is also looking at improving the 3G experience for its customers in these circles.

I've been keeping an eye on Nokia for a bit now and believe this is the time to add to my share count. The ALU integration was handled very well. This was the only thing I had questions about. I think we have enough investors to back us up now.

By the way, I've seen the OZO at the end of a few NFL football games.

In todays world people want it done now, today. They have no patience. The typical message board poster has this mentality. He cannot see that a company needs growth and sustainability. They lack the ability to see the developing potential. Be it a foolish belief that they can time the market, trying to turn a quick buck or stuck on financial numbers, they can't seem to understand that a company like Nokia takes steps to insure strength by nurturing its endeavors and keeping its platform stable for years to come.

Success is in taking the steps to bear the fruits of your labor. I see this in Nokia. It's like the parts of a well oiled machine have had the oil added to them and the ignition is about to light up.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy
