Let's see what the new OI is in the morning. The 24 and 25 puts had volume today well exceeding the OI, and assuming a lot of that was daytrading, there may not be much left open. The 20 and 21 puts are only worth around $30K; not sure that's enough to drive the stock price. $1.3 billion worth of stock changed hands today.
Yes, Ackman was very wrong with these two. But in the case of HLF, he thought there was more to their story, and there wasn't; they were mostly following the law. But with VRX, the whole relationship with Philodor was apparently kept a secret even to Ackman. Ackman can't be blamed for that, but I think he should not have doubled down on VRX, he should have cut his losses.
I don't think possible criminal charges in the coming months implies "the worst is behind us".
