BTU continues lower on above average volume while the market goes up on below average volume.
When I revisit coal boards, besides the SPAM there isn't much else familiar.
thx . appreciate the update and insight into what you consider the salient issues.
BTU kicks off the earnings season on the 29th. You will be watching I suppose.
Whenever I look in I see only a few of the old time longs. Whatever happened to your pal who "averaged" in at the $20's over a year ago?
What was a value has become either more of a value or cheaper for a good reason.
Been away from coal stocks for long time, but thought today was the start of a long run. Anyone else who thought so was sure very wrong.
Not just ACI is getting taken down. BTU ANR CNX. Coal is not participating. In fact coal stocks are being sold on a huge market rally. Professional takedown? Of all coal stocks? Short covering? How could that be possible?
Do you use washingtonDC math? Transports closed up yeserday. Down from their high but higher than the previous day. Transports are also Up today. ' What a twisted web we', ah, "Spin"
I would be interested in the specifics of your call writing. I heard a guy tout writing calls and I asked him to give me the specifics. The stock was $15, He wrote the $18 a couple of months out for about 1%. .18cents? The problem is the premium on a stock like ACI right now is priced at next to nothing. Running the risk of getting called away so low for so little just does not make a whole lot of sense.
Been watching and waiting. I exited long time ago and to the point of this short thread; I note ACI has broke above the downtrend line but there is not much of an uptrend on a daily basis. IMO. 3 days off a bottom is good, but not much to cheer about.
I find it amusing that the trolls on this board who expound at great length about how bad coal stocks are and how they warned not to own or buy them, show their lack of conviction in that not one of them ever mentioned going short. But then , like the current administration, it appears very likely that those who voted for that administration also lack even 20/20 hindsight. lolz
Is a Carbon Tax a Done Deal for the US? Ask Exxon
November 26, 2012
We know President Obama is going to tax the rich, but I bet many didn’t think he would weasel in the carbon tax as quickly as he is going to now. A Romney win would have been bullish for coal producers in the US – but Romney lost, and now so has coal, at least in the near term. The biggest winner from Obama? Natural gas.
Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM) is now supporting Obama in bringing a carbon tax to the US. Why would Exxon – and other big energy companies – join forces to bring on the carbon tax? The answer is simple: profits.
Exxon has made significant purchases, buying unconventional North American gas companies. For example, it recently bought Canadian firm Celtic Exploration for over C$2.5 billion. Let’s not forget that a couple of years back, Exxon bought out XTO Energy for over US$30 billion.
How does a carbon tax benefit Exxon? Natural gas and coal race neck-and-neck when it comes to electricity generation in the United States. By increasing the cost to produce coal, natural gas becomes more attractive for utilities. This means a better bottom line for Exxon… and a fatter paycheck for its executives."
Ask yourself; How does a politician with a despicable performance get reelected? How do they achieve their most radical goals? Exxon is providing an excellent example. Simply appeal to the greed of those you can tempt and promise to provide for those who wish to remain indolent.. Simply put, divide and conquer. Exxon should fully realize obama despises the oil industry but they will realize, too late, that after he destroys coal, he will turn to natural gas and destroy it along with oil, in order to achieve his zero fossil fuel ideology.
This is going to be one interesting ride.
Meebe, meebe not. lolz
Bennie said he couldn't fix the economy all by himself and the market tanked.
So , he bought your shares low and will sell em back to you higher.
The End of the Hoax has to end, but when?
no one likes an " I told you so" lolz
Why not tell these guys what you bought that went up 100%?
Better yet why not tell these guys what you are buying now that you expect to zoom ?
They could all use a good laugh.
Crude is down because the Israeli's and Hamas are talking about a cease fire.
A cease fire in the middle east is like replacing a short fuse with one a little longer.

ArcelorMittal announced that Board of Directors proposes reducing the annual dividend payment to $0.20/share from 2013 (from $0.75/share in 2012). Subject to shareholder approval at the next annual general meeting in May 2013, this dividend will be paid in July 2013.
I totally missed it.
Guess I won't be a repurchaser anytime soon.
Yep, cut in dividend proposed to .20, but subject to shareholder approval, which will be approved after the company scares the hell out of them by explaining the alternative. So now you have a stock which is down today almost 1.75% in one day and once the news gets out it will take it down further. New dividend .20 on a soon to be $13 or lower stock is a return of 1.5% . The stock is down more than that in one day.
Buy the stock, not the dividend or you get MT.,
Sad for shareholders.
Yep why Yahoo quotes PWRD in a foreign currency and not SINA is beyond me.
Maybe Marissa Mayer knows the reason.
And why PWRD would pop up on a 3rd Q guide lower is also beyond me.
Maybe I will be enlightened.
