  • Message from Keith Purce, President 1101

We don’t believe we should settle for a concessionary contract without a fight. We have consistently said that we are ready to Strike. We did a “Ready to Strike” pledge, and then were told that only CWA President Cohen had the authority to call a strike, so we sent him letters stating that we would strike and never surrender. We have always been upfront on what 1101 is willing to do to preserve our contract. We think a vote no on this agreement will show the company that we are ready to FIGHT!

This is not a reflection of the bargaining team, they have fought long and hard for 16 months against this greedy, selfish, billion-dollar company. Our fight is with Verizon!

The greatest ideal of unionism is democracy, now we get to vote on this Tentative Agreement. We will get all the information out to the membership through worksite meetings and Verizon membership meetings in the next 2 weeks. We will do a mail-out ballot so everyone’s voice will be heard. This vote is one of the biggest decisions you will make for you and your families’ future. A vote NO is also an authorization to strike vote. I think it’s time the company knows we are serious and ready to FIGHT! A strike is always a last resort and the company has been pushing our backs to the wall for a long time now. We have no other choice but to use our ultimate weapon until we get a contract that gives us the respect we deserve!

To strike is not an easy thing. I went through the 17 week strike in 1989, and as a young child in grammar school I lived through the 1971 strike as my father fought Ma Bell. But when is enough enough? How many punches can we take? We must stand and fight, the time is NOW!

Remember our fight is with Verizon, not the national or any of our fellow locals. If you want to text or post something on Facebook, just put the positive reasons why you believe in your position.

There is no reason to attack a fellow brother or sister who has a different opinion; we all have to stand together against corporate GREED!

We are ready to strike and not surrender!!!

    We are 1101.

Fight for what is ours. They " Verizon" gave the union this piece of Poop "what they want to call a contract" and said take it or leave it. You all must understand that we " CWA and our Brothers and Sisters IBEW" only initially said we will bring it to our members so we had just about a month to come up with our next game plan. If we said "NO" right there and then who knows what would of happened. This way we have all be able to make some money" And I along with everybody else I talk to " have ben telling you to put as much away as possible" and decide what we are going to do when we vote no . Lowell + Verizon are not going to know what to say and they may just turn around ad fold in to our respectable demands. We are no the airlines here, we make the company 5+ Billion dollars a year take home. They pay out 6%+ dividends " banks dont even pay 1%" they dont ned our money, Lowel is being greedy and just wants to give himself a bigger raise.

Stand United, Vote "NO", dont just vote "yes" becasue you are scared becasue the bosses are threatening you and telling you " you better take that deal" what do they know? Seriously, they are affraid for their jobs. They are dropping like flies.
If you " Vote Yes" they are going to turn around and push out the door, lay off a bunch of us and the next contract in 2.5 years they will finish us off.

I will see all of you on the line Standing strong!!!!!!!!

  • of money. There is verbage about them being able to transfer calls out of state/country. They are going to cover 90% of medical after a 2,000$ + deductable which does not include your co pay or co insuance( ie...60, 90 ... a month). No pension band increase which alone will cost you 12% over the life of the contract. Remember, compounding money. Here is a quick example....If you make a 100 dollar raise this year, next year you make that 100 dollars and every year after you get the same 100 dollars plus the raise you get in those years. If you get one time bonus this year then next year you dont make the 100 dollars and the next year after that no 100 dollars. Get the picture. With not getting a pension band increase for 4 years we are losing over 12%. Dont forget inflation. That is going up like a skyrocket and we are getting the same amout of money. NOT GOOD. In fact if I had the time I could figure out the amount but it is more than 12%. More in the line of 15%+-.
The 850 bonus will not cover a trip to the doctor or if your healthy a mini vacation esp after taxes.
They are going to get rid of everybody hired after 2003, then hire back all the vcs techs and not have any job protection, pension liabilities and pay them 1/3 of what we get paid. If we pass this contract in 3 years they are going to take the rest of what we have left. Dont Vote Yes or we will all be sorry.,

Please, if you are not a worker dont bother chimiing in. I dont care that you are an investor and you want to make a quick buck shorting or going long for two weeks around dividend time. We are almost 50,000 American workers that pay our fair share of taxes, pay for the Sick, Lame and Lazy people who abuse the system etc. I will just press ignore to your ignorant statements. I am not the reason you lost your job, and I am not the reason that you cant afford your phone/ video bill.

You are not correct. It must be signed off by the 45,000 members. And, everybody I talk to says NO WAY are they going to say yes. This is a #$%$ contract. It will cost all of us thousands of dollars as soon as it is ratified( IF and that is a big IF). Vote NO and make the Union stand up for us and not sell us out. Please dont tell me that becasue the rest of America does not have Pensions anymore that I am not allowed to either. I built this company, I worked for it and I have worked for it believing that when I retired I would have a decent pension and retirement medical. Now they want to change that because they have wireless and most of Fios is built. Well If I have anything to say then they are not getting my vote.

This is bull sh$%t. If they think I am paying all of this money so a select few can line their pockets with even more money is not going to happen. I am voting NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No way, No how, No matter how much they want, if it costs me money then forget it. This is not the airlines, we are not loosing money. There is no reason to pay.

Have you ever worked for this company? I think NOT!. I am not listening to the" Mafia Bosses", I am listening to my father who worked for this company for 40 years who was able to retire with "good" benefits. Not great but good. Now I have worked for them 20+ years and I am not going to be able to do the same. The company is making more money than they have eververybody else and they want me to pay more because everybody else in the country is. BullS67T. That is not a reason, I dont have a problem if the company needed the money but come on. Lets be real. They have been making and are making billions. Yes I will take as much of them down if I go down.
