SKUL retailer Radio Shack RSH slips below $1

RSH has had in nice little run since the bottom call. Probably will bounce around a buck for awhile. Lots of volume. I'm too long in TRMR to buy in at any substantial amount. I'm going to watch RSH and probably be kicking myself for not buying in now (as the holiday season approaches).

OP - left a reply on the SKUL board. I agree, it should break into the low 5's short term.

I'm in pretty heavy at 4.22. Let's see where it goes. I'm thinking low 5's short term as well.

What's your thoughts on today's action? That is one solid stick today. Going up from here?

  • michaelsistowicz by michaelsistowicz Jun 16, 2014 6:57 PM Flag

What a solid stick today... Thoughts anyone?

  • I always had a problem with stock grants until a company shows revenue growth and positive earnings. They just diluted the stock Friday. Earn your money executive staff and board for goodness sakes. #$%$ is Alden getting more stock for? He is getting it because he must be controlling Hoby at this point. That is not a good sign...

    The Beats Deal

    by michaelsistowicz May 10, 2014 9:42 PM

Beats has inroads into Android phones as a music service. This opens the door for AAPL to cross into that market . There will be some buzz here with SKUL. ALWAYS sell on the news!!!

  • michaelsistowicz by michaelsistowicz May 10, 2014 9:42 PM Flag

First of all congrats to all still holding SKUL stock! You have a great opportunity to play a Pop again. Apple is purchasing Beats for three reasons (all that SKUL has failed miserably at)

    1) a dominant brand name (10x the popularity and loyalty of SKUL)
    2) a streaming music service (20 million song catalog = Pandora)
    3) strong presence in Chrysler and Fiat autos (which would allow AAPL to start migrating its technology into on board / in-dash control systems

The headphone business is totally not the play here by AAPL.

Hoby is o where near getting SKUL even close to a music experience (streaming) or into any partnership with a major auto manufacturer. They tried with Toyota and that was a dud.

This stock may get some play, but it will fall back into the 6's again soon and is a buy in the mid 5's (as a speculative play).

    Good luck to all...

Hi Ben, this is a dog with fleas now. After the last 2 EC's (and Hoby's pump) the stock has drastically sold off (insiders) and today's sell off was dramatic. The stock nearly closed in the 7's!!! I'm so over the Hoby Hype. He has had 5 quarters to fix this and they are still loosing money. There marketing efforts are in shambles (the worse I have seen since the IPO).

Just my opinion and I'm glad I bailed at 10. I doubt we will see that number again for a long long time.

  • michaelsistowicz michaelsistowicz Apr 25, 2014 7:20 PM Flag

Well that only took 8 trading days. There are 4 trading days before Hoby puts on his usual dog and pony (or his 5 pillars synopsis). Any bets on how many times he uses the words "Amplified" and "Muse" in his prepared remarks (May 1 after the bell)?

I got a disturbing e-mail on Easter. It was a computer generated sales promotion from Skullcandy (as I am on their mailing list). It had blatant drug usage overtones. It utilized the word "poof" (as in smoke) and then had a promotion on their Smokin Buds. It also referenced 4:21 and Colorado (were pot is legal). The 4:21 is a reference to get high at 4:21 pm on 4/21 (which was The day after Easter). So based on that I would suspect Hoby will use the word "irreverent" a few times as well. I doubt he will name drop Nike. I would be surprised if Nike would want to associate themselves anymore with the counter/drug culture Hoby is promoting (or grasping at out of desperation is my take)

Invest as you will, it's your money, but beware.

I can say that Hoby will pound out Walmart partnership script. Remover this is all under 20 buck stuff.

Perhaps he will achieve EPS profitability this year, but any revenue growth is a dark horse bet here. The core brand is all but disappeared.

See you when it drifts back into the 6's...

  • The fact they are hanging their hopes on is women's line? Nothing in the local Walmart (went in today to check it out). Hoby is taking his time here. His honeymoon period is over (over a year on the job now). First quarter loss. Next post when it is getting ready to break into the 6's (probably mid May). TRMR is building up and ready to Pop. In the next couple of weeks.

  • It should drift back into the 8's and settle in there until earnings in May. TRMR is a good entry point as it got spanked end of last week.

Ben, TRMR has 2 bucks a share cash and is thinly traded. I like the fact that it is faction able for the big social media and search companies etc to be buying up media and ad companies etc, at stupid silly valuations. This one has a shot at someone throwing a billion or two at it. You never know!!! Limited downside potential.

  • michaelsistowicz by michaelsistowicz Mar 31, 2014 9:52 PM Flag

Looks like the funds added today for quarter end. Still way too rich to buy in. You guys should look at TRMR which has the makings for the same set up as SKUzl did from its low of 4.8....

  • michaelsistowicz by michaelsistowicz Mar 29, 2014 8:32 PM Flag

Wow, since I sold out, I haven't been paying attention to the details as much. Just looked at the Short interest numbers. They ballooned recently. They got it painfully right before.

This stock is getting very high risk...

  • michaelsistowicz by michaelsistowicz Mar 28, 2014 11:24 PM Flag

As I predicted previously it would by month end. Monday is going to be interesting. Month and Quarter end. Let's see if any funds dump shares and run for the hills after all the hype from the EC. I'm not going to make any predictions how Monday will go, we will see.

I will predict that at some point prior to the May EC that you will be able to buy this stock in the 7's. 7.50 is my new target price to start accumulating again. I'll buy all the way down to 6.50 which is where SKUL will be at some point before March 2015's EC which will be where the rubber hits the road for Hoby and his turn around (Q4 earnings the big Holiday Boom or Bust)..

I believe this stock will be in the teens a year from now. Plenty of time to watch it pull back. Think about it, if Alden and Warnock knew there was going yo be a monster surprise In May (knowing how the 1st quarter was going) they would have held out for a couple of months regardless of their "need" for funds. They saw the door swing open to sell some shares in the 9 dollar range and ran with it.

It will rebound, but not until minimum later part of the year.

Take this opportunity to lock in gains if you bought in the 5-6 range and wait until it pulls back to buy again.
