That's total rubbish about not being concerned about wash sales. They add, if bought again in the 30 days, to the average cost and can severely skew your new average price. I've paid taxes on money I never made because of wash sales. Never going to do that again.
I dont understand how you guys sell at losses then go back into the same stock within 30 days. How do get past the wash sales and the added cost they add to your new buy in prices?
If the fed did give them the money to do that and then their earnings aren't as good as a buyback would infer, how do the banks justify the buyback to the public if they didn't have the earning to support such an action? I guess we have to wait and see but trusting actions that seem so oddly coincidental, announcing a buy back and the fed listing who passed the stress test and who didn't, is difficult at best. Especially when I look at the ADL going down as the S and P goes up, eerily similar to late dec 2016.
Didnt it seem odd last week that many banks announced their buybacks simultaneously with the fed announcing who passed the stress test and who didn't? If QE4 is in play, could that money have come from the fed? Last weeks announcements seemed very well timed.
Does anybody think the banks, that announced huge buybacks late June, will not have good earnings to report? If they announced huge buybacks, wouldn't it be unusual to report not so good earnings? Any thoughts out there? Wouldn't a buyback infer better than expected earnings?
dickie, are you working on some EW predictions since were so close to breakout? The market is too close to new 52 week highs to not break out imo. For some reason I remember seeing some other predictions on the breakout and think 2145 was the number they were putting outting out there. Considering all the uncertainties out there, its seems unbelievable that we would go onto a steady move up as happened after the low was in earlier in the year, but it is election year and the Fed, I believe, is going to do everything possible to get Hillary elected. It still seems like a good time to make that correction this summer to give lift off to fresh new high more near the elections in Nov... but I'm biased as I do own some TVIX.
What is the TSX vs TSX.V... I have some listings of stocks from your past post, but not sure what TSX is other than some exchange. Where do I find such listings? TIA
The new battery plant in Nevada has their grand opening on July 29. I would think that would be a positive event and market mover for lithium stocks. Any thoughts?
Did you see the restrictions on buying that Velocity placed on XIV? Effective July 5. If you search Credit Suisse places conditions, you should be able to find the document. What does it mean?
When Bush got elected again in 2004, I looked into moving to Canada. They said I was too old, so maybe will only need 30-50 million blankets and umbrella's. Unless you're from Syria, then you get in with gold package , a free apt, free healthcare, free mass transit, free food and a balloon.
Tell me about this drop you're anticipating? What does quick and steep look like in your vision 1960s, 1900s, 1870s, 1800s? Just curious.
