MAR and its shareholders have been "taken"...It's one of the oldest auction games in existence: as a seller of real-estate, cattle or personal property, the seller (HOT) puts a confederate in to bid up the price and step out before it ends up "holding the bag". In this case, the Chinese group was allowed to withdraw its bid after temporarily being the high bidder. Does that mean MAR won? I don't think so!
Watching the movement and activity of VAC over the last several sessions indicates, to ME, at least, that something GOOD is about to happen. Something better than a dividend increase, I hope!
When WEN spun off THI, I allocated $0.00 to cost basis of new stock. I since added many shares at low purchase price. I chose QSR stock over cash rather than pay more than $1 Million to IRS. If QSR drops to $1/share it won't bother me as long as it pays an occasional dividend. Good luck, folks!!
My gut feeling is that will be raised to 20cents/share. That 3cents may mean little to some; but to others it means the difference between living like a prince and living as a potentate! hahahahaha
Very high volume on last day of trading week on the upside with sharp sell-off-in last few minutes. In after-hours action also high volume on upside with transactions recorded NASDAQ and not NYSE.......Monday might prove interesting!
Sentiment: Strong Buy
During the last 15 years I've seen the MAR spinoff of Sodexco bought out; the spinoff of Crestline Capital bought out and the spinoff of Host Services taken out. What's to make me believe that VAC won't follow suit?
I bought SLE nine years ago and even with spin-off of HBI and HSH and DEMBF distributions, this is 1st time that I can show a profit! So...for me, it's not how many Euros but WHEN!
I've been holding on to NUT since 1998 with my fingers crossed the entire time and as much as I want to believe that yesterdays last hour activity was due to a coming buyout, now feel that it was an "internal thing" and that being the final day of the 3rd quarter might have entered the picture somehow. My fingers remain crossed, however.......!
I received my shares of VAC as proceeds of MAR spin-off and am wondering how I will treat the proceeds (all profit) if/when I sell: Capital Gains or Dividend Income? Any info appreciated.
