Vault Surveys: Intel Employees Voice Some Concerns, but Remain Optimistic
    1/18/2006 11:41:01 AM

NEW YORK, Jan 18, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Intel (INTC) employees remain cautiously optimistic about the company's future, New York research firm Vault has found in new employee surveys on the chip giant. The survey results can be accessed on

Vault's employee surveys give investors and jobseekers insight into the company's business operations.

Says an intern engineer in Oregon, "Intel has been flatlining for a while due to the stagnation of the processor industry. They are trying to expand into other markets including flash memory and consumer electronics, but it is a large company and can be slow to wield its resources. Employee morale was generally positive but carried an overtone of concern."

A former manager: "Most of the early leaders (and true visionaries) have left (because their stock did so well in the first 10+ years). There is very little 'grey hair'. (Many) of the upper management are examples of the 'Peter principle'."

A software engineer writes: "Intel seems confused about where it is heading next. Intel strongly believes is that the processor business alone is not going to be enough. 3 years back, Intel announced that its major portion of revenue in the next 5 years would come from the communication industry. Now Intel is trying to get into the digital home market. The influence of huge success of Apple. Until that happens, employees are going to keep their fingers crossed."
