Did anyone submit anything yet? I didn't - still kind of new to this company - but I'd be interested to hear what everyone else came up with.
It does have a high beta. I never really got that. Beta is a measure of volatility, right? Being stuck in a narrow range doesn't seem very volatile...
Who needs "bashers"? The ignorant garbage that the so-called "longs" on this board are posting is starting to make me wonder if owning this stock makes me an idiot too.
The idea that people get paid to say mean things on the Internet about companies is laughable. As if Yahoo message boards have so much influence on the investment world. A shadowy cartel of investment bankers with huge short positions have shelled out thousands of dollars to create an online psyops campaign - recruiting secret agents to troll stockholders with negative opinions. Forget the Wall Street Journal... Yahoo is where the REAL heavy hitters get their investment advice!
I know your hearts are in the right place, but the info you are posting has even less credibility than the so-called "bashers" you are railing against. Frankly, an attorney could no more prove that "bashers" get paid $5-$7 per reply (lol!) than Sandridge PAYS YOU the same amount to post positive information about their stock.
And as for the lawsuit brought against message board "bashers" 2 years ago - you might want to consider the source:
And watch this:
Do you really believe that many people read this board? And out of those people, enough would be swayed by a "basher" to move the stock one way or the other? Come on. Just accept that:
1. Some people have a negative opinion of the stock, and are legitimately interested in sharing said opinion in the interest of fair and balanced discourse.
2. Some people get off on being jerks.
Disclosure: I am long SD, but short conspiracies.
In case ya'll missed it, Eastern Capital snapped up 11,341,083 of those shiny new shares for a 6.34% stake in the company:
Anyway, EXEL looked pretty oversold to me, so I picked up a few today myself. A nice little after hours pop as well. Let's hope the bottom has formed and it's all uphill from here!
I'm starting to think it's going to go back below $5 at some point between now and then, and if that's the case, I'm buying like crazy around $4.95. But you'd better believe I'm selling into the earnings news.
It's a crying shame really, but barring some analyst coverage and/or volume, that's the best way I see to play this stock.
59800 shares this time. Monday it was 279K, and there may have been another one yesterday, but I don't remember.
Somebody (or a few somebodys) are building big positions.
I wouldn't make too much of it. The chart looks just like the other small o&g companies today (KOG, MHR, etc.). And with oil up close to a dollar... Not really sure why.
Do you really think they will announce major news at an industry conference? Usually that type of stuff comes via an official press release.
MHR was up about 5% yesterday after their CEO spoke at the same conference. If nothing else, maybe we'll at least get back some of today's losses.
UBS, Citi, and some other big players were on the call - hopefully one or more of them will announce that they are covering the stock soon. In the meantime though, I think we'll probably be back down to the low $5's as those who bought in the $4's take profits.
If that turns out to be the case, I just might double down.
I had hoped todays increase had something to do with people buying into the earnings announcement, but volume was nearly 50% below average today.
I'll take a positive day any way I can get it though, especially with the beatings we've been taking lately.
I am long this stock, and am optimistic about our growth prospects, but I am sick to death of people on this board (and every other Yahoo stock discussion board) suggesting that anyone who posts negative opinions or information about their stock is part of an insidious conspiracy to drive the price down either because they are short or want to get into the stock at a cheaper price.
This is a discussion board for chrissakes - not a support group. Art V makes some really good points, and is sharing information that is good for us as investors to know. Gotta take the good with the bad, people.
