Interesting to see all the "short" attempts to scare Longs from GBX positions ..... uttering the words "bankruptcy" .... "illiquid," etc.
However, if you remove the current cash balance of $214.4M from yesterday's closing Mkt. Value of $863.3M ($26.50/share) .... the adjusted Value of remainig Mkt. Value is $20.06/share .... and over the past rolling 12 months GBX has generated $11.05/share of operating cash-flow. That puts GBX trading at 1.82X op. cash multiple! ... and even with the current price of $28.14 the multiple is 1.95X op. cash. That's just an incredibly low valuation while the Company still holds 2 yrs. of backlog (assumming nop orders received during the period) remaining at 4300 units/quarter delivered.
Thus, at current cas generation rates the Company will throw-off enough cash to 2 years to meet the current Market Value of the Company (ex-cash). This is one of the best "value plays" we have witnessed in the past 12 months ..... and we suspect that's what others are discovering based on today's volume/uptick trading.
