penn...I have been in the market since 1988.Over the years I have invested in Blackrock and Nuveen funds but always for one reason or another had to sell due to those funds either doing ROC or cutting dividends. I gave up on those 2 years ago. I now have CEFs in PIMCO,12 of them. Also have funds in ALLIANZ, NCV and NCZ. While those 2 did cut dividends, I stayed with them, and I am glad now I did. With NCV, I have collected over 45k in divvy over the years and also almost as much with NCZ. They are both going back up since hitting bottom. I did add shares while they were way down. Guggenheim has funds I would not touch, But I did invest in GOF and added some more after initial buy. and intend to keep them. I looked at Western Asset funds and decided on DMO, other funds Passed on them. I am heavy on PIMCO funds and intend to keep what I have in them..There are PIMCOs that I would not gamble on. Muni funds that have high percentage of ATM involvement, I avoid them. I have consolidated my muni funds from 8 to 4 . If you are interested, my munis are PML, PMX, PNI, and PZC. I just sold PYN 3 days ago to take long term cap gain and added that total to PZC. I had owned PYN 1 year and 3 days . In that time it went up 13,000 in LT cap gain. As much as I liked that muni, I could not pass up cap gain. Before I take cap gain I make sure I have losses to cancel any taxes due on the gains. Some of those losses I have carried for years. Being able to use losses to cancel out taxes due means those losses were not as bad as it seems. I do my own taxes and work on them year round. It is easier to tell what I would recommend than what is not a good investment. Hope this info helps you out.

malibu...One CEF fund that has not been injured by the EU debacle is PYN, PIMCO NY muni income !!!. It has been on a rise for weeks and set a new high today. I bought 6125 shares on 1 Jul 15 @ 9.40. Today it is 11.62.If I sold tomorrow I would claim 13,563 in short term cap gain. What I intend to do is sell after 1 Jul 16 and then qualify for long term gain.. I May encounter a problem selling , according to Merrill Edge discount broker. This CEF does not do heavy trading every day as other CEFs, anywhere from 6000 to 12000 shares per day. I was told by ME that I may have to sell over a period of days or longer.Sometime it seems like one is fighting the system.

mike...I do not respond to that line of garbage. Their only interest is penny stock. Doesn't matter how good an investment you have , they will try to get you to sell and buy their penny stock . I see their sorry advice on every one of my holdings.

poo...I have owned PFO and PFD and also FFC. Flaherty/Crumrine holdings have all been good investments for me. I do not think you can go wrong with either of the above 3. Good luck to you.. My family is sort of scattered right now. I have a grand daughter with her 2 kids in Minnesota and also a grandson in GA. My granddaughter moved from Fla to Minn and regrets the very thought of ever even thinking about that. I would go up there and bring her here at the drop of a hat. Probably just wishful thinking on my part. Good to hear from you.

Poo..I am still heavily involved with NCV and NCZ. I never considered selling either one. I did buy more NCV when it had dropped to 6 a share.. I would recommend buying . I have no doubt both funds will go higher. Good to hear from you. By the way, what part of the country you call home? I am 90 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Good luck to you.

Fed Funds rate going higher in June?

You may be worrying too much. The unexpected low employment report that just came out has analysts believing there may not be an interest rate hike in June as planned.. Lets just wait and see before losing any sleep.
