Nobody is ever guaranteed a job forever - even though the Watson era did their best to protect. Sales reps who did NOT meet quota did have a hard time of it. But to call firing workers a part of key business strategy is an insult to the employee and rank and file who DO the work and do not just inhabit Armonk in management meetings, of which IBM has excelled for ages. Business wants to keep and attract top talent and not just fire them as part of the 9 to 5 job cycle. Eventually, like socialism, you run out of people to fire.
Hat tip to Business Insider - email came out that firing redundant workers is a key part of IBM strategy. The key is of course redundant ... if you define that as replacing old American workers with young H1-B visa workers at lower pay. OR firing experienced talent and replacing with young newly graduated talent. Or just keeping the shareholders happy. How the Watsons would turn over in their grave at that one.

The dividend is AN EXPENSE and given the mind-set of the McKinsey in control, to be reduced as long as possible, eliminated would be better of course.
So, why are they not reporting revenue specifically for the great supercomputer WATSON??? Selling the PC business was a no-brainer and wow mainframe growth is terrible. Cloud? IBM has to be nimble to go there and they are not that being. Now they have an airline deal. BFD.
As always, Aon is a bent memory. I was outsourced out in December of 2005 by dear old CSC but things have not changed. Moved to Georgia 2 years ago and am now a malware forensics engineer with a major financial services firm down here. An associates talked about her career and she was advised NOT to go to Aon as "it's bad there." So, word is getting around.
Not reporting WATSON? THE GREAT SAVIOR of all of IBM??? Shocking - of course maybe the numbers are just not that wonderful after all the job cuts and sugar-coating by accountants and bean counters, i.e. more quarters without less revenue and BS by management to spin it.

From what I have read, the HP employees are delighted to be rid of their boat anchor, so CSC probably purchased another dog - just like the horror that was First Consulting group so long ago. Gee, those new private sector contracts are just flooding in, aren't they? Not.
Moving out of Armonk would be a seismic event of the first order. True on everythng else though, firing highly paid, experienced American workers for lower paid, low experience, nominal foreign workers is the trend of so many domestic firms it is no longer funny. The IT capital of the world moved from Route 128 in Boston to Arnmonk to Redmond and thence to Bangalore.
We know very little on these boards but the discussions can be intriguing and factual IF kept to business subjects and not political rants and/or pure spam.
