When is the Earning and Dividend Announcement?

    by adorablepal35 Jul 11, 2016 12:40 PM
    rgchjr1945 rgchjr1945 Jul 12, 2016 1:35 PM Flag

2nd Q earnings release on 7/29 with conference call at 12 noon EDT.
The 3rd 2016 dividend payable around Sept 1st. The declaration date has been the 2nd Wednesday in July the last 4 years. The declaration date should be tomorrow, July 13. This is late in the month because of where that 2nd Wednesday falls. Should be the 2nd Q at 63 cents per quarter. They have moved to raising one time per year.

In the short run we need good earnings, positive info on the SC plant and a new contract with the Mexican JV. Long term, by next year, the SC operation should be going full tilt and TIS should be able to ship out of the most economical plant (either OK or SC). Besides increased sales due to ability to produce a lot more product we should see higher margins. The analysts love higher margins. Once all three operations are running smoothly they need to obtain a plant that can cover new England and the Middle Atlantic states. Pennsylvania does quite a bit of manufacturing and has the people and a road network to go both east, west and north to cover the territory currently out of range of SC & OK. By 2020 $40 per share will be a dot in the rearview window. This why I bought hand over fist in the $20's.

The whole online fitness business is why i like this stock long term and have been buying in this latest down draft. To expand shoes, clothing ect. is a huge investment in both marketing and distribution and takes lots of time. Look how long it has taken Nike to get to $96 billion market cap. On the other hand a thousand silicon valley teckies can take the apps they bought and monetize them for a lot less expense. Example look at what Face Book has done. And UA is integrating apps and physical product. Market Cap is only $26 billion which is not that big.

All of the defense stocks are high in dollar price. I looked at charts and of the 4 best stocks in this group over 1, 2 and 5 years: LMT =$252, NOC = $222, TDG = $270 & RTN = $138. Even the fund you mention is $120. LDOS is about 51 but is not one of the main companies. When it comes to performance the 4 large companies i mentioned above are the best bet. Too many stocks in the Fund bring down it's performance. There are some ETF's of which ITA mirrors the fund and is easier to get in and out of. Best bet is to buy one of the high priced stocks and just own fewer shares. i doubt any will split but they appear to be good investments. I do own LMT.

Oil has been up from the bottom for most of the 2nd quarter. In addition natural gas has been over $2.50 for quite awhile which is a lot higher than earlier this year. COP still produces a lot of natural gas.

    TIS all time high?

Tough to be a cheer leader for this stock. When you look at the statistics about half of the shares are owned by individuals and the stock is thinly traded. For example, relatively few shares trading can send the stock significantly higher in either direction. Just the nature of these small cap companies. And it can often have nothing to do with earnings or any other news. Investers like to dump small caps when there is uncertainty in the market so something like the Brexit which a first glance should have no impact does to antsy investors.

    Is anyone following Dominion Midstream?

    by jcotton15 Jun 17, 2016 11:52 AM
    rgchjr1945 rgchjr1945 Jul 5, 2016 11:19 AM Flag

Many of the midstream MLP's have weak sponsor companies and have sold off periodically. DM is also in the same ETF's as these weak sisters so they get hammered through ETF selling. Finally, for some reason these midstreams seem to trade with oil. Makes no sense since most of the midstreams are predominantly gas related.

    How does SE report?

1099 plus they mark it as a qualified dividend so you pay tax at the qualified dividend rate which can be lower than your incremental tax rate. K-1 dividends are not qualified because SEP never paid tax on the earnings.

    Where is ABT headed ?

Headed 100 miles an hour down a dead end street with no brakes and a cliff at the end!!! Seriously I own a lot of ABT and think that Miles will get this baby up. Collecting the divy while I wait. Also think the STJ deal will be a real winner and eventually propel ABT to much higher levels. I bought some for my grandchildren while it has been down.

  • Every time I go to the dentist or the MD I always see tons of H. Schein products used by the Docs. I started a position recently and Brexit gave me a chance to pick up some on the cheap. Anybody ou there have any opinions or info to share.

Why will be sales great. It has either rained or been miserable in the midwest all week-end. In addition huge numbers of people are on vacation and the last thing on their mind is to go to Lowes.

Problems with currency which really hurts when over 50% of revenues come form abroad. Very high market share in many countries so there is nowhere to go. I don't like the CEO. The conference calls are composed of someone reading all the wonderful things they are doing that has led to no increase in value. They are not dynamic. The CEO is a care taker who wants to get by and get out eventually with all his perks before the roof falls in. They need to step up to the M&A window or sell out. Other wise CL is going nowhere for the foreseeable future. The lousy dividend increase foreshadows the future.

I do not find it incomprehensible at all. They are all self serving #$%$ who are only interested in themselves and their BS ideas. On this 4th of July I salute my fellow vets who I served with in Nam. These other #$%$ ants are takers and do not know what it is like to sacrifice.

    LMT 2.8% dividend yield authorized

    rgchjr1945 rgchjr1945 Jul 4, 2016 3:39 PM Flag

This is the 4th quarter of the $1.65 divy. Based on the last 3 to 4 years and analysts's estimates of 2017, i would guess they should increase the divy at least 15 cents per quarter as a minimum. The 4th quarter announcement date is usually around the end of September with an X-dividend date around December 1 and pay s=date around Christmas. LMT has long leads with the announcements. $7.20 per year or more would be a nice payout for 2017.

The spin apparently is the only thing that Mulva did right because the old COP was poorly managed. Think about all the money that was tied up in the non-core assets that have been sold form about one year prior to the spin until today. look ay the value unlocked in the PSX part of the company. We have hit a wall with PSX but that is a function of the overall refining industry. The current CEOs of both COP and PSX are doing fine.
