    Surprised

If the PN acquisition is agreed upon, and the buyout PPS of PN stock is in the range you predict, the PN shareholders (depending on their purchase prices) might realize a substantial gain. Good for them.

What do other EBIX posters speculate will happen to the EBIX PPS after the announcement? I think PPS could be easily bumped up into the low $60s, but I'm in for the long term and wouldn't be surprised if a year from now, after a 3:1 split, the PPS would be $25+.

    Ebix acquires Badger Billing

It looks like Ebix Inc. is a privately held company headquartered in Greendale, Wisconsin. It is very interesting that Ebix Inc. manages claims and medical billing. I think Robin mentioned Ebix is looking into expanding into EMR. Who knows, perhaps Ebix is looking at Ebix Inc. Probably not, and PN is the big fish to catch at this time.

Nice gain yesterday and up to $57.35 on a paltry 95k shares this AM. Someone or institution is covering or adding to their position. Short interest was slightly up 8-31 from 8-15, With EBIX buying shares, and continuing revenue growth with good margins, it doesn't make sense to short EBIX..

The Seeking Alpha article is very complimentary of EBIX. Mr. Feng stated why EBIX is a rock solid company and I like his concluding remark, "Looking at the tremendous growth opportunities, I believe Ebix will be able to achieve consistent earnings growth and reward shareholders handsomely." It's worth reading the article. http://seekingalpha.com/article/4006767-ebix-growth-stock-huge-opportunities-ahead

PPS is 5% down. What's going on?

With the PPS down, we'll pick up more shares when the dividend is reinvested. The dividend will be paid the 15th so we'll probably be adding to our positions at a bargain price. Even though the dividends are a low percentage, over the years reinvesting them has been a nice bonus to increase my total share count.

William--you are correct. The sudden decline is not unusual. If anyone shorted at $56+, they would be wise to cover which will bring up the PPS. Also, there was very good news out of India today that EBIX executed a new e-governance contract with that country. That is a BIG positive for EBIX and will be reflected in increased revenue. The big question mark is the EBIX-PN deal. I speculate the acquisition will be completed, but the terms of the deal with Mr. Mariano are still being worked out. Not much will be heard this week because Robin will be in Las Vegas tomorrow (Deutch Bank technology conference), and New York Wednesday (Credit Suisse Small to mid-cap conference) to meet with big-wigs from lending institutions, analysts, and brokerage houses. The volume today is already 2x normal daily volume, so there was significant selling which bodes well for those who want to increase their positions at a bargain price. Patience Grasshopper, patience.

Stuart--Am I interpreting your comment correctly that EBIX needs to pay (in some form), an investment bank or institution for one of the analysts to initiate coverage and recommendations? I can understand why a institution would do this. If the analyst gives a favorable report about EBIX, more interest is generated, more revenue for EBIX and the institution wants a piece of the pie. Am I oversimplifying the scenario?

Timing would be perfect for a Monday joint announcement by PN and EBIX. RR could sit down with the big cats at the conference and tell them how bright the future will be for EBIX after the PN acquisition. Unfortunately, timing usually isn't perfect and I'd be surprised to hear something Monday. Here's a question for all posters: If the PN acquisition is completed, new contracts are signed, and new revenue from recent contracts is gained, what do you speculate will be the one year target figuring in the 3:1 split. I wouldn't be surprised if the PPS could surge to $25-$30 a year from now.

I looked up the Deutche Bank conference next week in Las Vegas. According to the syllabus, EBIX is not giving a one hour open presentation to attendees. It appears RR is going to have a one on one meetings next Tuesday with interested entities?????--brokerage firms, analysts, institutional investors, banks, hedge funds. This is very good news, because RR is taking the responsibility to speak directly to some big cats that may initiate coverage or purchase large numbers of shares for their clients. (Bad news for shorts). Since RR will be in LV next Tuesday, I would be surprised if we hear any news about the probable PN merger before the conference. We might hear something Friday, Sept 16 or anytime several weeks thereafter.

    Robin's pay raise--absolutely deserved

    by riverbank_beggar Aug 29, 2016 12:20 PM
    riverbank_beggar riverbank_beggar Aug 29, 2016 7:54 PM Flag

I wonder why someone voted thumbs down to RR's pay raise? Compare what he has, and continues to accomplish with what a mediocre professional basketball, football, baseball player or golfer makes. RR is the CEO of a 1.5 billion dollar company with 40 offices around the world. He's responsible to employees, shareholders, business partners, and prospective clients. Granted, he's assisted by hundreds of employees, but when you compare compensation with responsibility, there is no comparison. A mediocre pro lineman in the NFL may makes several million dollars and his only responsibility is to protect the QB. A DH in the American League only needs to hit a baseball. A pro golfer hits for distance and putts for the money, but isn't responsible to run a world wide company. RR has earned his pay raise.

The BODs has proposed a retroactive to Jan.1, a million dollar pay raise. I believe the pay raise is earned and well deserved. His guidance of EBIX since June 2013 (when I jumped back in) has been the best investment I have made. If and when the PN deal is finalized, there's a 3:1 split, the number of short shares declines, and Melissa writes another meaningless drivel article, we'll see continued value (increase in PPS) for years.

Stuart and Stock--Thanks for the informative posts regarding compensation for Mr. Mariano, if the EBIX-PN merger is completed. Hopefully, there will be a joint EBIX-PN announcement within 10 days stating the merger was agreed to by both parties and forwarded to the SEC for approval. Perhaps by the end of the year PN and EBIX will be integrated and there will be information of the 3:1 split.

    PPL Expanding to Marine Lines

I see PN is up 4.6% today on almost twice the normal volume. Hmmm, this is probably not coincidental EBIX 4% today. I wonder if a fly on the wall where discussions are held has buzzed some information. Probably not, too risky of being smashed by the SEC flyswatter.

Very nice bump today on small volume. I don't think today's PPS increase was market driven. 4% in a day seems like some short covering or some individuals buying. I think the volume is too small for institutional buying. I wonder if there is any correlation to EBIX going on the road to exhibit their business at trade shows? Onward towards $60.

    riverbank_beggar riverbank_beggar Aug 19, 2016 2:17 PM Flag

This is good news for EBIX and it's PPL. Can anyone venture a guess if revenue generated by the marine lines will be equal to, greater than, or lesser than the finance/professional lines? Kudo's to Robin and the entire EBIX team. If EBIX purchases PN, we'll see some very impressive earnings in the next year. In the CC call Robin stated EBIX has some big deals down the road. So I interpret that as not only PN, but other acquisitions or new developments in insurance, medicine, elearning education, government, etc. Time for more analysts to cover EBIX. Perhaps the EBIX traveling road show at conventions will be enough exposure to get some analysts on board. Blackrock, Goldman Sacs just to name several.

With EBIX continuing to buy back shares and the huge PPS increase within the last year, shorts are losing their shorts and time to cover. The PPS is only going to grow to new highs in the next year. Looking forward to a future 3:1 split.

I hope you are correct about RR not letting the big one get away. Mr. Mariano " founded Strategic Outsourcing Inc., a professional staffing company with over $1 billion in sales, which was sold to Union Planters Bank." He then went on to form PN and its companies within. Steve Mariano is a smart entrepreneur and has built PN companies into successful businesses . Interestingly, he is involved with local charities in Ft. Lauderdale area. Perhaps he and RR have similar philanthropic interests and "hit-it-off" when they first met. Much better to have friendship, trust and respect when discussing such a big deal. Wouldn't it be great to be a fly on the wall in the board rooms?

It's been very quite on this board even though EBIX is holding up very well. I guess we're waiting to hear if the PN due diligence may result in a MOU of purchase. I listened to most of the PN CC Monday AM and Mr. Mariano, PN CEO, gave favorable Q2 results. The PN PPS popped up when it was announced EBIX was interested in purchasing PN, but it's PPS has dipped slightly after the announcement. Mr. Mariano owns 12,023,622 shares of PN's 26m shares. I don't think the acquisition will get done without Mariano on board 100%. We'll probably hear some news in early Sept. If I am incorrect on any figures, please correct me.

Robin rang the opening bell at the Bombey Stock Exchange and rubbed elbows with the Prime Minister of India and the chairman of the BSE. Robin mentioned EBIX's commitment to education, health care, insurance and governance in India. Also, his personal foundation funding building homes for homeless in India was mentioned. Great PR for EBIX and Robin Raina Foundation.

Stuart--I appreciate your optimism. We'll probably have a 3:1 split before the end of '16 or early '17 so I'd be happy with 35 at that year's end. Interesting thoughts about institutional investors advising RR to pick up companies that will make EBIX the big kid on the block even if the margins aren't as high as he would like. You're also right on about EBIX software and services being "sticky" once a company is using their products. I switched software programs for my practice 6 years ago and it was a pain. I couldn't imagine huge companies with thousands of terminals world wide switching software after EBIX is up and running with the best programs on the market.
