Sure. The trends Journal had a special report today extolling benefits of Thorium. In a few weeks this will fall again.. Sell on the news.
I'd like to believe this whole fiasco is a con, but having Ignored Muddy Waters and been burned on LLEN and Sino Forrest and paid bigtime, i took my lumps early.
You might be disappointed selling now, but if you hold on.. I believe you'll all really regret it when this is confirmed as a fraud.
I'd say sell on the up days while you can.
Personally, I'm out of China Small stocks for a long time to come.
Sure.. Rated a strong buy in Crisis and Capital newsletter with long article about why to buy now. Guess article was persuasive.
I'll wait for the rebound.
You've got the be joking. General Electric is actually broke! If it weren't for government bailout money, it would have sunk already last year.
Few people in the states own or follow this stock. It's a great play on water cleanup-purification in China.
Whether it plays out or goes into a tailspin depends on what happens in China and to a lesser extent in the Middle East.
It appears to be forming a base now...I'd be buying more if it goes over 2.65
Good to remember that although there is a large ST Cap Gain here we can offset the other large ST Cap Losses we have with this gain.
For example, I have ST Cap losses of around 70K this year. With the ST Gain from my 1000 shares of SMN, I have a 35K Gain. That brings my ST Cap losses down for the year to 35K or so total.
Really has no tax detriment to me at all and actually increases my basis when I do sell.
You can carry over ST Cap gains but only offset them against losses at 3K a year rate....so its not good to have very large ST cap Loss carryovers.
For many of us, a ST large distribution like this is a blessing.
These Big Distributions on some Proshares Funds are not really hurtful to many of us at all. For example, this year to date I, and I suspect most others, have large ST Capital Losses. For me that Ammt is some $70,000 and change.
Today SCC had a ST Capital Gain of something like $35 a share and I have 1000 shares. Therefore the $35,000 ST Capital Gain reduces my total ST Cap loss to only 35K.
You can carry over ST cap losses but only offset them against future ST Cap Gains in the sum of 3K max a year so huge ST Loss Carryovers do few investors much good.
I am now thinking I may write a Call on SRS for perhaps July....if I a premium of 15K or so ,,,it will reduce my ST cap loss to 20K for the year!
