DH and board members...lets not forget, that I was the one that made 'the early calls on FRO and SFL'...they have restored the yield and 'increased it twice' on FRO...I don't really care who gets the credit, but nobody has posted more up to date data on FRO and SFL than myself...I have given other investors here a lot of credit in the past and now it is my turn to take some, lol...! That said, income averaging on FRO has really paid off for me and FRO is still under price (just check out the current color)..! Stagg...!

bob...we have a mostly real investors on this AMNB message board and 'less trouble makers' and 'it takes some pressure off' of the SFL message board because the SFL message board has become so popular...! Glad you came for a visit, please return often, as your information is wonderful (sorry bob, but I had to say that, because it is true, lol)...! Stagg...!

Board...here is another scam...I just got back 'from an investment seminar" put on by TD Ameritrade (free lunch, drinks and of course a sales pitch)...min. investment was $500,000.00 in one of their funds (by Sternech Capital Management)...if an investor did not have that much money to invest, they 'would try' to get you into something else, lol...my opinion is, that it is 'a black mark against' TD Ameritrade for thinking we are that stupid...! bayman...excellent posted message, every major financial problem in our country has always been caused by the banks (by finding another loophole in the regulations)...a lot of the investors on this message board 'started with nothing' and are now 'very wealthy' because of the money system we have in this country...

Our standard of living is a lot higher than it was 10 to 15 years ago , yet some people keep 'crying wolf at the door'...we live better than over 95% of the people around the world and yet some keep griping...we hunt, fish, travel, gambler, play golf, eat out and etc.,...we have nice homes (sometime two or three of them), good vehicles (with all the extras), RV's, boats, big screen TV's, great medical, dental and a whole lot more...! We can thank most of that to our money system (and controls) as it is our friend and it is still working very good...! Stagg...!

Board members...this is a guess (and only a guess)...I think that APPLE may be getting into the leading edge on self driven vehicles and some of that type of programing...i.e. electric vehicles, self parking, auto-stop on cruise, better on board blue tooth, back up control and etc.,...APPLE has 'some of the best research engineers in the world' and enough cash to back up 'a lot' of new and different project research (and the launching new products into the market place)...! I just don't think that APPLE is done yet...! Stagg...!

bob...thanks for the information, as it is probably a good deal for both companies...however, it may also hurt SFL's profit sharing from FRO a little bit (???)...that said, SFL and FRO never sit still as they are always moving forward and doing something else..! I always wonder what they will do next (???)...! Stagg...!

Long time SFL guys......I need your advice.....

    by aualum79 Jun 2, 2016 8:40 PM
    staggman99 staggman99 Jun 2, 2016 11:49 PM Flag

aualum...SFL (yield about 12%) on the five short term indicators that I use it is rated a hold, on the four medium term indicators it is rated a 25% buy and on the three long term indicators that I use it is rated a 67% buy, for a current trend 'of a hold'...the ROA is 6.8%, the ROI is 5% and the ROE is16.8% (which is very good)...gross margin is 70%, operating margin is 36% and the profit margin is 49%...support is $14.90, pivot is $15.19 and resistance is $15.48 with a one year target price of $17.83...

SFL is one of my core holdings, for a very long time, and sometimes I add more and sometimes I sell some, but I am well pleased with the long term performance of it, as it has paid for itself in just high yields alone over time (revenue stream)...my opinion is, that is it wise to start a position on share price pull-backs and then work off of that number in the future (I like to dollar cost average about four times on a holding)...I also feel that the current color is 'a lot stronger' on SFL than the markets are reflecting (there is a lot of hidden value, such as their 7% holdings in FRO, more ships on charter and etc.)...! I hope some of this helps with your selections and good luck...! Stagg...!

william...it looks to me like the markets are following oil prices back up (just like the markets followed oil prices down)...it seems like lower oil prices would be good for a lot of companies, but the markets don't think so (???)...! That said, this is another great day in the markets for me and I am well pleased...! Stagg...!

gambler...my opinion is, that this market sell-off is another opportunity to increase our revenue stream even more...we can take advantage of the current down draft, and profit from it, as a lot of high yields just got higher..! Even if we are out of cash, we can move some funds into higher yields...! Stagg...!

  • Board members...grain prices have been moving upward for several reasons (to much wet weather to plant which hurts crop yields, a falling dollar and etc.)...when the U.S. dollar falls in value it makes U.S. farm products cheaper for other countries to buy (Increase exports is good for grain prices)...this may be the time to look at some short term plays (six months or less) in GRU, DBA, CORN, SOYB or even SLV (silver)...! My source of information is, 'Prairie Farmer' (on search) and click on daily articles by "Bryce Knoor'...! Stagg...!

iconoclasticist...I do not have a clue why the share price of FRO is so poor because FRO continues to have outstanding current color...i.e. FRO (yield about 18%) has a ROA of 11%, a ROI of 10% and ROE of 32.8%...plus FRO has a low p/e of 6 (or less)...and spot rates are still strong and bunker costs are very low...my guess is that a lot of investors got burned in the past on FRO when the stock used to be at about $75.00 a share (???)...FRO is a lot like LINE, some investors go burned so bad on them that they will never buy them back again (no matter what)...myself, I think that FRO is a very strong buy right here and now (based on the current over-all color)...! sarge...I always feel that the best measure of debt is to compare the ROA to the ROE...SFL's ROA is 6.8% and the ROE is 16.8%, it looks to me like the SFL debt is producing income of about 'an extra 147% of income more', than just their assets (and that is a nice number)...! Stagg...!

DH...I think that sometimes we expect to much out of the markets...the markets always over-correct (to high or to low), if we buy good quality high yield stocks, it is not to hard 'to make money in the middle'...! For me, revenue stream 'is the main driver' in my portfolios...these are some of 'the best yield opportunities' that I have seen in my lifetime (and today was another fine day, in the markets, for me)...! Linn Energy

    staggman99 staggman99 May 11, 2016 7:29 PM Flag

k-bon...is correct as LINE was one of my favorites as well as EVEP and FRO and I made a nice profit on all three of them...some investors got upset, 'in the far past', when oil prices were over $100.00 a barrel, because I said that LINE was not getting enough product out of the ground and into the market place...

The problem with large land based oil companies is that they reach a point where they are shutting down as many wells as they are drilling...because with land based oil companies, the 'first year is the most productive' and then it is mostly down hill...! A lot of energy companies started losing a lot of money when oil prices were still over $75 to $80 dollars a barrel...and we are still a long way from that number....! Stagg...!

  • Board members...about a year and a half ago, I said lower energy prices would be good for the markets and 'I was wrong'...all of the markets and most stocks have followed oil prices downward...oil prices have now bounced off of a bottom and the markets and a lot of stocks have followed oil prices upward in the current rally...

Nobody has a Crystal Ball to the future, but it looks to me like the markets 'continue to follow oil prices' up and down (even grain prices are doing a good recovery)...my opinion is, that oil prices will continue to make a very slow recovery and because 'the die is set', the markets and most stocks will continue to follow oil prices slowly upward...! Since the end of January this rally has been very sweet; and if current oil prices hold steady, we may see a decent mid-summer rally in the future...! Stagg...!

gambler...this is an ugly day for me, investment wise and other wise...not only are most of my holdings down, I also have 'a lot more rain' on the way...it is so wet that I have water standing on the hill sides...I need to stop farming corn and soybeans and start plant rice, lol...! The only good news is, that I have a lot more revenue stream on the way, from my investments...! Stagg...!

  • Board members...OPEC is increasing production and that will probably hurt a lot of energy stocks, as Iran is doing the same...however, it may be good for the oil tanker industry (NAT, FRO and SFL's profit sharing)...! Stagg...!

  • Board members...here are some of the Total Returns on several of my/our current holdings...if the second half of this year is like the first 6 months we will have a really great year (over-all)...source of information, is 'buyupside Total Returns'...

NRZ (yield about 13.9%) is up 35% YTD...

BDCL (yield about 19.1%) is up 10.3% YTD...

PSEC (yield about 12.8% and pays monthly) is up 15% YTD...

DVHL (yield about 14.4% and pays monthly) is up 51.8% YTD...

CEFL (yield about 21.8% and pays monthly) is up 41% YTD...

DLNG (yield about 12.5%) is up 49% YTD...

NYMT (yield about 15.2%) and is up 23.4% YTD...

SFL (yield about 12.4%) is down -4% YTD...

FRO (yield about 19.8%) is down -15% YTD...

This is another good day in the markets and it pays to keep the faith...! Stagg...!

sarge...if all the markets would just stay were they are right now, it would be fine with me (of course that will not happen)...my average weight yield is now about 16% (after the run-up since the end of January, when it was higher) and I could live with just that...! Stagg...!
