Great stuff... Maybe. The Themis guys are absolutely right that we have to see details. My gut reaction is the log lived order type will with IF AND ONLY IF BOTH BID AND ASK are long lived / execute together. Essentially, create PARALLEL and COMPETING execution where orders (offers to buy or sell) must exist on timescales in which humans can respond and one for machines. Let the market work. Let people vote their values with their wallets. Let's see if HFT provides REAL liquidity... ;-) :-)
That's the least of the worries for the hedgies... They've fancied themselves gods and chyt on fellow Americans, had no loyalty to anyone or anything, to the giants upon whose shoulders they've stood, attributing all the value they capture to their magnificence.... (not realizing value creation and value capture are WILDLY different things and their ability to extract value has little to do with their godliness).
Is your cross (burden) getting heavier or lighter? The path of TRUE Justice is the easiest, shorteat, fastest lightest path to true happiness... Choose wisely and thrive! ;-) :-)
Do not indiscriminately blame all for the sins of a very few. Those inside the CB, "TBTJ" and WS institutions (like Fidelity) have most certainly known the truth about the systemic theft and fraud and likely wanted to fix it, but couldn't see how as the couldn't control the outcome and were terrified about what would happen in the case of cascading collapse. But, what they've done to those of us trying to help them (in order to give hide/obfuscate their past crimes and sins, knowingly taking advantage of fellow man because we're "dumb brutes" and/or incapable of taking care of ourselves) is truly unholy.
Not so. They are trapped in a self perpetuating destructive cycle, one that isn't impossible to break, but is unnecessarily hard to. Systems should be designed to help ordinary people do extraordinary things, not require herocism to break through. Those born into privilege (the gift of family being the greatest from my perspective) stability and security simply do not know what it's like to be born without it and to grow up in an unstable and unsafe environment. The way we're headed, looks like everyone is going to learn as instability grows everywhere. You'd be well served to find some compassion and mercy within you, else you will likely find others have none for you.
Not remotely. People like you don't create value. You take value. You trade (some at least "allocate").
I've never been happier. You'll be paying the piper, as well ANY institution that has supported you.
Sounds to me like you have a lot of overhead and burn rate... It's gonna suck for you as the financial system collapses in REAL terms... It'll be like you hung yourself with your vain lifestyle... ;-)
And I suspect you do plenty of slapping yourself around... That's fine, but keep it to yourself. I'm not interested in participating in your chyt show.
I have. Indirectly worked with one... A lawyer / lobbyist. The false righteousness was ASTOUNDING. But, we shouldn't sacrifice all for the sins of a few...
If you ever want to get a sense for the REAL state of the economy, go to a bunch of gas stations and look at the pumps. When you see the majority with a few gallons (people not having the luxury of filling their tanks, even as gasoline is cheap), you'll start to realize the limitations of the mind control fraud... Propaganda DOESN'T solve problems.
Always advantaging yourself AT THE EXPENSE of others.... Tearing others down to make yourself feel good... To compensate for your own inadequacy, probably resulting from chitty parenting.
Stay the F'k away from it. We'll rebuild from within. We don't need your kind that thinks you own us simply because you've accumulated more essentially if not inherently fraudulent accumulated and derived phantom debt claims from your role... CHOOSING of your own free will to parasitically profit from the unjust, fraudulent system because you were "smarter"... Thereby amplifying all of the pain the ZERO sum, systemic theft causes for the rest of us. F'K you and all like you.
Nah, I prefer to chart my own path rather than live out someone else's narrative/story... You see what happened in Milwaukee? My best childhood friend lives in that neighborhood (a white man married to a wonderful black woman). They are quite successful but have chosen to live where others mostly would not, to engage and help rebuild the community. Spoke with her this AM. We do such a disservice to the community and perpetuate the vicious cycle when anyone condones, excuses or defends violent crime (armed robbery with a stolen weapon) as those "protestors" did. And the alderman who said blacks are getting fed up needs to start taking with the silent majority who are afraid for the safety, else would be speaking up. Rewarding thugs and bullies ISN'T okay. That said, we need to realize that we've instituted all sorts of reinforcing systems that have undermined self sufficiency and self respect at all levels... the individual, the family and the community. We need to start having honest if uncomfortable and inconvenient discussions about the brutal reality in order to fix the future.
The larger point is that this is something we are seeing all over, the top detaching itself from the bottom, feeling little loyalty to it or affiliation with it. It is a theme I see working its way throughout the West’s power centers. At its heart it is not only a detachment from, but a lack of interest in, the lives of your countrymen, of those who are not at the table, and who understand that they’ve been abandoned by their leaders’ selfishness and mad virtue-signalling.
On Wall Street, where they used to make statesmen, they now barely make citizens. CEOs are consumed with short-term thinking, stock prices, quarterly profits. They don’t really believe that they have to be involved with “America” now; they see their job as thinking globally and meeting shareholder expectations.
In Silicon Valley the idea of “the national interest” is not much discussed. They adhere to higher, more abstract, more global values. They’re not about America, they’re about . . . well, I suppose they’d say the future.
In Hollywood the wealthy protect their own children from cultural decay, from the sick images they create for all the screens, but they don’t mind if poor, unparented children from broken-up families get those messages and, in the way of things, act on them down the road.
From what I’ve seen of those in power throughout business and politics now, the people of your country are not your countrymen, they’re aliens whose bizarre emotions you must attempt occasionally to anticipate and manage.
In Manhattan, my little island off the continent, I see the children of the global business elite marry each other and settle in London or New York or Mumbai. They send their children to the same schools and are alert to all class markers. And those elites, of Mumbai and Manhattan, do not often identify with, or see a connection to or an obligation toward, the rough, struggling people who live at the bottom in their countries. In fact, they fear them, and often devise ways, when home, of not having their wealth and worldly success fully noticed
As to the other comment, I know you're geometry guy, but you should refresh your understanding of set theory and topology... Closed system, ya know.
