Can someone refresh my memory? I know LUK used to have a large amount of NOLs from various acquisitions (Wiltel for example). How quickly have they been allowed to use that asset? What for? What's left?
Does anyone keep track of the book value and book value adjusted for the value of any securities/assets owned that are carried well below intrinsic value?
Best guess estimate would be appreciated
How much of the land is national parks and other land that cannot be developed and therefore no one would want?
No matter how you slice it, it's not a good sign to sell supposedly cheap shares for cash. It almost certainly means you are having serious cash problems now (or will soon), or the management is stupid. There really are not any other options.
A few weeks ago I was wondering about the finances at fortescue and took a quick look at the nunbers. It was almost impossible to figure out the cash needs because of so much somewhat flexible investment CapEx. It would not suprise me if the company looks to LUK and others for a big cash injection at some point soon.
