Garp - if you are stating BGS is overvalued in comparison to historical metrics, the reality is it's the entire stock market, not just BGS. Look at P/E of stocks like MMM KMB SJM MCD PEP to name a few; in my opinion what is propping up the share price is the increasing dividend yield, and with BGS it's the same story. Obviously BGS is not in the same class as those other companies, but what's true of all is with growing dividend, the share price is not going to remain stagnant and let the yield grow to 5-7%. I suppose thank low interest rates also to an increase in dividend chasing in general and demand for the stocks.

Back to BGS more specifically, an acquisition through stock makes perfect sense for them, though that's probably not very attractive for any potential target compared to cash. I don't think they'd do any deal even close to the size of GG with majority through financing, at least not for a long while.

Wow I just found out about the buyout. This was one of my buy and forget about it stocks, so a little disappointed in the sale. Can't complain about the proceeds, but I think there was quite a bit more runway with this one.

  • Any chance NKE is behind Durant joining the Warriors to undermine Steph/UA? Sure there's room for both stars in the same way KD and Westbrook shared the spotlight in OKC. But I always felt KD was considered the main man and Russ the #2.
