  • Ambarella outlook underappreciated, says Pacific Crest
    Pacific Crest believes that Ambarella's technology lead and opportunities for further share gains in IP video surveillance are underappreciated. The firm thinks the recent decline in the stock has created a much better entry point in the stock. It recommends buying the shares.

  • Ambarella price target raised to $70 from $55 at Pacific Crest

  • Ambarella price target raised to $62 from $47 at Stifel
    Stifel expects Ambarella's Q3 results to come in at the higher end of its guidance. The firm continues to expect the company's fiscal 2016 results to beat expectations, and it continues to recommend buying the stock.

  • This investor is grateful to have benefited from buying AMBA many moons ago. The technicals and the fundies on this stock continue look better as time goes by. The company simply has the best technology in the business and it is worthwhile to point out that many of AMBA's markets are expected to witness phenomenal growth in the years ahead.

    "So it is that on Thanksgiving Day each year, Americans give thanks to Almighty God for all His blessings and mercies toward us throughout the year."

    Happy Thanksgiving to all

    On September 22, 2014, Ambarella, Inc. (Ambarella) reported that it will be attending the China Sourcing Fair: Electronics and Components in Hong Kong, from October 11 to 14, 2014. The Company will present its products including Automotive Video Recorder, Wearable Police Camera, and Consumer Security Solutions during the event, at Hall 7, Booth 7J36, in Lantau, Hong Kong.

    ps: This investor has taken notice of the PRICE / VOLUME action of the stock. The average daily volume has indeed increased since early September {last quarterly report} and the price trend has also been favorable which suggests some tutes {institutions ala (smart money) funds etc} are scaling into positions. No doubt the GO-PRO exposure has helped bring attention to the merits of investing in AMBA. This investor believes all of AMBA's markets {Security IP Cameras / Wearable Cameras / Sports Cameras / Automotive Cameras / Broadcast Infrastructure Solutions} are all experiencing increasing demand which should eventually be followed by ever increasing stock prices. This investor will not be surprised to witness a stock split sometime in 2015 to reflect managements confidence in their business as well as accommodating institutional investors with a higher share count float. This investor believes in the words of world famous investor Jesse Livermore: " The big money is made by the sittin’ and the waitin’ "

  • Although recent stock action has been excellent, especially with relative strength seen despite mr market weakness {which usually bodes well for the future}, this investor believes the growth potential in many of AMBA's markets will allow for further stock price appreciation. And as a chartist, I'm pleased to say the chart is reflecting a very bright future. This investor thinks the following markets will experience robust growth:

    *Security market {look at all those dropcam adds all over the internet since Nest bought them}

    * Specialty {Sports} camera market {not just Gopro / Polaroid is now entering that market}

    * Automotive camera market {wait till USA adopts what China, Korea, and Russia are already doing!}

    * Wearables market {Google glass and help-outs {and others} will surely grow as this new vertical launches}

    * Broadcast Infrastructure market {Although this segment has been weak, it should pick up with the need for better bandwidth down the road. And this market has very good margins for AMBA}

    note: the shorts who drove the price down from 35ish to 23ish back in May also have contributed to recent positive stock action as they cover. This investor will not be surprised to see a price of 55ish sometime within the next six months. {I'm holding and adding on weakness}

    Sentiment: Buy

  • As the protests continue in Ferguson, Missouri, over the police shooting of Michael Brown, shares of Taser International (TASR) have soared 28%.

    The company is most well-known for its taser guns that shock people, but it also makes wearable video cameras used by law enforcement.

    Investors are betting that allegations of heavy-handed police tactics during the Ferguson conflict will spur sales of the video cameras.

    The thinking is simple: If the film is rolling, a record will be made of any officer who engages in police brutality. At the same time, the videos could provide another layer of credibility for police by showing what they are seeing when they are out on patrol.

    Interest in equipping police with body cameras has swelled nationwide. Pilot programs using Taser's products are underway in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Detroit, and London. New York may soon follow suit as a result of scrutiny of its controversial "stop and frisk" policing.

    Video police reports: It's not just the cameras that are exciting traders. Taser's service includes software that could make it easy for officers to upload audio and visual evidence. In the future, these videos could replace police reports.

    This investor believes the demand for video technology will simply explode in the near future for many applications. This investor also thinks that bodes well for AMBA's business.

    Sentiment: Buy

    This investor is bullish on AMBA's prospects and believes long term investors will be rewarded accordingly.

    * Anybody {besides me} noticing all those DROPCAM adds all over the net now that Goog's Nest owns them? I would think that the security business will boom in the times we are living in now and that is AMBA's largest revenue segment.

    * Anybody {besides me} that thinks the world will indeed be seeing lots more cameras for the transportation industry? I think the insurance companies may help pressure auto makers to making them mandatory in the future. The driverless GOOGLE car will also require cameras and the last time I've looked, it is not just GOOGLE looking at making these cars. The technology is there now.

    * Anybody {besides me} think we will be witnessing more and more police officers being required to have a camera on duty / not just the badge.

    The GOOGLE helpouts business has plenty potential down the road and don't forget the GOPRO business still looks bullish today. AMBA's ceo has sold one of his companies that he founded { Afara Websystems} so perhaps he will do that again {once the smart money figures out the possibilities of having the best technology in this growing business}

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

    Luxottica (MIL:LUX), the maker of Ray-Ban sunglasses, has struck a deal to design, develop and distribute glasses based on Google's (NSQ:GOOG) Internet-connected Glass eyewear, potentially bringing the new technology to a wider market.

    Guerra told la Repubblica newspaper that the new glasses would be ready to hit the market in 2015.

    Many technology experts believe wearable computers such as Google Glass will be the next big market for consumer devices, and could mirror the way smartphones evolved from personal computers.

    Imagine the AMBA stock price potential should AMBA's technology be designed into Google Glass

    Needham & Company downgraded Ambarella (NASDAQ: AMBA) from Buy to Hold citing valuation with shares up 42% since its announcement on December 20 of a reference design for a wearable camera as part of Google's new Helpouts service.

    "We believe the strong performance of AMBA shares over this period reflects rising investor expectations around the company's opportunity in wearable devices," analyst N. Quinn Bolton notes. "While we found AMBA's demonstration at CES of its wearable reference design for Helpouts to be impressive, we believe it will take time for the wearables market to develop into a meaningful revenue opportunity. Accordingly, we are downgrading AMBA shares to Hold from Buy as we see the near-term risk/reward in the stock as balanced."
