  • This investor follows mr market in general and AMBA in particular. The high flyer momo stocks have been severely punished with the bearish mr market tape. It is known that the institutions support their stock near the 200 day average. Friday's low for AMBA was 86.28 and the 200 day average is at 86.21.

    This investor will watch to see if the stock can manage to hold near Friday's lows as the earnings report is but 6 trading days away. It will be interesting to see if the stock rallies into that report.

    note: this stock is heavily shorted / a catalyst may cause a viloent price action upwards {especially after this pullback}

    Sentiment: Buy

  • This investor was not swayed from the Citron report primarily because comparing Ambarella to the likes of 3D printing stocks is like comparing apples to watermelons. There is a HUGE difference in FINANCIALS
    {amba actually has a p/e with quality growth reports} This investor believes Citron was either misleading or completely wrong when citing competition concerns. The following comments are from the latest {today's} analyst upgrade = "STIFEL HIKES AMBARELLA TO $115/SHARE ON POTENTIAL FOR 'ANALYTICS FEATURES' In a report published Thursday, Stifel analyst Kevin E. Cassidy maintained a Buy rating on Ambarella Inc (NASDAQ: AMBA), while raising the price target from $105 to $115, after meeting with the company's CFO, George Laplante. "Following the meetings we are more convinced that Ambarella is methodically expanding on its core competencies (video capture, compression and energy efficiency) which is increasing competitive barriers to entry," analyst Kevin Cassidy said. We see analytics as a critical barrier to entry for competitors and providing additional camera features." Ambarella has plans to invest around $10 million in developing its next gen video processors, which would be based on 14nm, the leading edge of semiconductor process technology." Here is another rather bullish comment from the analyst = " The revenue and non-GAAP EPS estimates for FY17 have been raised from $384.0 million to $404.0 million and from $3.19 to $3.50, respectively, to reflect "a trend for broadband service providers offering home monitoring as part of their internet, broadcast TV and telephone bundle,"

    That last line is important as AT&T {an established AMBA customer} is already rolling out the expanded bundle with other carriers expected to follow suit {competition is good}

    This investor is bullish on the stock

    This investor has noticed some bullish metrics:

    1. The stock is at highs with good volume

    2. The stock chart is bullish

    3. The company's business is in a highly regarded place on wall street {security}

    4. The float is small with a very high % shorted

    imo = the stock looks to continue to trend higher

    Sentiment: Buy

  • Let's face it: people may not like the "big brother" world, but the world's problems will only accelerate the adoption of a planet dominated with internet connected video. Crime, terror, law enforcement, and many other reasons will expedite the video connected world and Ambarella stands to benefit from this trend. Flir Systems {a customer of AMBA} just released a new camera can keep watch over your home or mount to your dashboard or snowboarding helmet to capture action footage. The Flir FX is targeting the audiences for both Dropcam and GoPro, while bringing a killer feature along in its Android and iOS companion app. With RapidRecap, the FX does something its competitors can’t: record a day’s worth of action, overlay all the movement, and play it back simultaneously, so you can see everything that happened all at once. It feels a bit like a Dr. Who episode—people, animals and objects moving past each other, with timestamps over their heads showing they were actually never together. Tap a time stamp, and the Flir FX app plays that specific chunk of footage on its own. Footage is condensed into RapidRecaps in the cloud.The FX isn’t actually continuously recording. Instead, the camera’s motion sensor tells the device to start recording whenever something in front of it moves, day or night. (The FX can shoot in infrared night vision, but can’t do thermal imaging like its sibling products.) The app also lets you see a live stream of whatever’s happening in front of your camera in real time as well—in case you want to, for example, check in on the house while you’re out on vacation.The FX records at resolution up to 1080p, with a super-wide 160-degree viewing angle. When detached from the included AC adapter, it can go four hours on its battery, more than a GoPro GPRO -0.76%. It records wirelessly, uploading video to the cloud via Wi-Fi. {more info on the Flir site}

    'IT'S AMBARELLA'S WORLD, WE'RE JUST LIVING IN IT,' NOTES PACIFIC CREST In a report published Tuesday evening, Pacific Crest analyst Brad Erickson commented that he remains a buyer of Ambarella Inc's (NASDAQ: AMBA) stock as "the bar remains low and out-year earnings are under-appreciated." Erickson wrote that the company's fourth quarter results "throws some cold water" on the margin-erosion bear case given its share gains in the Chinese IP security market and margin improvements across professional and consumer IP security and automotive segments. The analyst added that Xiaomi may be adding as much as $10 million in incremental revenue on what appears to be premium pricing due to relatively low initial volumes. "HD video is a rising tide and Ambarella is the best way for investors to gain exposure, in our view," Erickson wrote.
    "While valuation on fiscal 2016 estimates appears rich, we continue to believe investors underappreciate the leverage from this 60 percent-plus gross-margin business." Looking forward, Erickson suggested that investors wanting exposure to Chinese action camera exposure "need to look no further" than Ambarella. At the same time, the analyst argued that management continues to "bake in" very little contribution from consumer IP, other wearables and drones, while the rest of the business has shown consistent upside potential. Bottom line, "we would not bet against this rising tide stopping soon." Shares were reaffirmed with an Outperform rating with a price target raised to $76 from a previous $70.

  • Ambarella price target raised to $80 from $70 at FBN Securities

  • In light of the development, the analyst noted that Xiaomi’s camera will be using Ambarella Inc’s (NASDAQ:AMBA) chipset, which is a “clear positive” for Ambarella.

    Mr. Anderson wrote: “Notably, the Yi Action Camera (made by Xiaomi partner Xiaoyi) will shoot at 1080p at 60fps using AMBA's A7LS chipset. This is a variant of the A7 chipset used by GoPro in the HERO 3 camera that debuted over two years ago. At this point, we'd guess the ASPs on this chipset are sub-$10, perhaps close to $5 vs. high-end chipsets in the latest GoPros that are over $10.” Mr. Anderson also said that Ambarella is the best 1080p 60fps chip maker in the market.

    The analyst stated that the news is favorable for Ambarella, and that Xiaomi has the ability to produce tens of millions of units in the smartphone market, keeping in mind that the Chinese action market is still at its early stages. Such a scenario provides an upside to the analysts’ estimates.

    Dougherty & Co has reiterated a Neutral rating on Ambarella stock

    Also lower were shares of Ambarella (AMBA), which slid 7.5%. Analysts at Pacific Crest attributed the sell-off to concerns over the company's revenue from Axis AB, which announced Tuesday it would be acquired by Canon (CAJ), but the firm said it believes Axis AB represents less than 1% Ambarella's revenue and views the pullback as an overreaction.

    GoPro, Inc. (NASDAQ: GPRO) and supplier Ambarella (NASDAQ: AMBA) are indicated to open higher Tuesday following positive comments from Pacific Crest analyst Brad Erickson.

    In a note to clients, Erickson said checks confirmed it was a 'GoPro Christmas.' However, despite very strong holiday demand, valuation is keeping him on the sidelines with GoPro. Meanwhile, the analyst is still bullish on Ambarella and reiterated an Outperform rating and $70 price target.

    The firm's checks showed holiday sell-through accelerated meaningfully leading up to Christmas. In addition, they found meaningfully lower inventory levels on both an absolute basis and a days-of-inventory basis for Hero 4 products. Additionally, the analyst said the fact that Best Buy had not had consistent stock of Hero 3 White and Hero 3+ Silver since the beginning of December was encouraging.

    "We believe there is a high probability that the company sold its over-allotment of mid-tier cameras, and due to these outages, we heard that customers were purchasing Hero 4 products as gifts due to lack of Hero 3 and 3+ inventory, which surprised us," Erikson said.

    Given the stronger mix assumptions and slightly higher unit assumptions the firm is raising estimates on GoPro slightly. However, they maintained a Sector Perform rating on the stock. The analyst said they need to see growth rates inflect meaningfully higher before being able to justify a stock price beyond the mid $70s.

    Meanwhile, on Ambarella they remain buyers on the GoPro numbers and ahead of what is likely to be a very eventful CES for Ambarella. "... we believe interest and optimism around emerging HD video applications is likely to build in the coming weeks and months," the analyst said.

    ps: Happy New Year to All!

    Sentiment: Buy

  • This investor believes the chart suggests the price will move higher to fill a well defined gap back in September. Since then the stock has based from around the $4 area nicely. Now she has cleared some resistance and is trending up with good volume. The chartist will likely target the $7.50 area which represents a rather good profit from here.

    ps: Merry Christmass to all

    Ambarella initiated with an Outperform at Barrington

  • Ambarella outlook underappreciated, says Pacific Crest
    Pacific Crest believes that Ambarella's technology lead and opportunities for further share gains in IP video surveillance are underappreciated. The firm thinks the recent decline in the stock has created a much better entry point in the stock. It recommends buying the shares.

  • Ambarella price target raised to $70 from $55 at Pacific Crest

  • Ambarella price target raised to $62 from $47 at Stifel
    Stifel expects Ambarella's Q3 results to come in at the higher end of its guidance. The firm continues to expect the company's fiscal 2016 results to beat expectations, and it continues to recommend buying the stock.

  • This investor is grateful to have benefited from buying AMBA many moons ago. The technicals and the fundies on this stock continue look better as time goes by. The company simply has the best technology in the business and it is worthwhile to point out that many of AMBA's markets are expected to witness phenomenal growth in the years ahead.

    "So it is that on Thanksgiving Day each year, Americans give thanks to Almighty God for all His blessings and mercies toward us throughout the year."

    Happy Thanksgiving to all

    On September 22, 2014, Ambarella, Inc. (Ambarella) reported that it will be attending the China Sourcing Fair: Electronics and Components in Hong Kong, from October 11 to 14, 2014. The Company will present its products including Automotive Video Recorder, Wearable Police Camera, and Consumer Security Solutions during the event, at Hall 7, Booth 7J36, in Lantau, Hong Kong.

    ps: This investor has taken notice of the PRICE / VOLUME action of the stock. The average daily volume has indeed increased since early September {last quarterly report} and the price trend has also been favorable which suggests some tutes {institutions ala (smart money) funds etc} are scaling into positions. No doubt the GO-PRO exposure has helped bring attention to the merits of investing in AMBA. This investor believes all of AMBA's markets {Security IP Cameras / Wearable Cameras / Sports Cameras / Automotive Cameras / Broadcast Infrastructure Solutions} are all experiencing increasing demand which should eventually be followed by ever increasing stock prices. This investor will not be surprised to witness a stock split sometime in 2015 to reflect managements confidence in their business as well as accommodating institutional investors with a higher share count float. This investor believes in the words of world famous investor Jesse Livermore: " The big money is made by the sittin’ and the waitin’ "
