I ask you guys again. Is Richard Branson still pulling the strings for Virgin thru Sprint since the acquisition? Or do all of you think it was insignificant that Richard also owns Virgin Airways and Virgin is into music, all entertainment. Name should be Virgin Everything! This guy is the steve jobs of today and no one talks about him???? He may be the reason the insiders are driving the price up even THOUGH sprint is losing customers!!! Comments????
Guys, Richard Branson, the CEO and founder of Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Mobile and as Motley fool once said...Virgin Everything! They have theuir hands in all aspects of media and communications and God knows what else. Richard Branson was described in I think it was Fortune magazine as a guy who gets off on taking existing co's and making them better...not in inventing new technologies. So my questions to all of us are: Is Richard still an advisor or involved with Virgin in any way, still? And heres the big one......I just bought a Virgin Atlantic phone...powered by Sprint of course, my first smart phone ever...and it took me 2 days of surfing to get underneath all the deceptive deals every one of the others like verizon ,att, and t-mobile offer. I found some thing startling................Virgin Atlantic offers a good smart phone for $80, and for $35 a month you can get unlimited data, calling, texting....and no contract!!!!! I say the lower middle class and the welfare class are going to be breaking their contracts in droves(especially if they have no credit to begin with lol), and running to buy everything from the $80 phone to the kitchen sink from Virgin. I am going to say its possible in 3 years Virgin can help sprint outdo Verizon and ATT in smart phone sales. Not just because they offer the best deal....but because Richard Branson has never lost a business war with anyone. he's just pure genius. Let us pray he is whispering in the right ears and still pulling strings. Think Netflix when they were going up against Blockbuster and no one thought they could put a giant like that out of business. They did!!!
I agree with you cnbc. This is one of those times where the return on assets, p/e and all the numbers take a back seat to the creativity of the management team. Has anyone seen some cutting edge creativity from this co. before this acquisition?
That often means mgmt is mismanaging something or other. Warren Buffett says he will never consider any co. whose return on equity is less than 15%. I love this company long term as trading is only going to get higher and higher volume as our International brothers in the middle class want a piece of the action and many will be like we were 10 yrs ago....looking for that get rich system or software. But what could be cause==ing this co to have such a low ROE. tOO MUCH STOCK OPTIONS GIVEN TO MGMT? Money spent on parties, #$%$ and the usual waste? Lets look at theie competitors like ICE and CBOT and Nasdaq not sure the symbol, AND SEE IF THEY TOO SUFFER THIS FATE.
