I am not short currently I have not been short since the teens, I actually am hoping the company makes it but it is dead money long or short imo. My statement has to do with my belief that the company will not file a chapter 11 during 2015. So relax. Do not look for a return to the teens though. Not enough Horse Power. Ron Johnson sucked the juice out of this company. Worst CEO of all time that was not indicted .My sell rating s about better use of funds than waste it here.

    Sentiment: Sell

  • but it may never earn a net profit in this decade either. Money eater. A lot of better trades out there now.

You are correct as usual on this company . Your arguments are unemotional fact based rather than the low level of discourse of the one short seller who posts under quite a few different ID 's . Low intellect and make no sense all emoyion and no intelligence. Zero ???? Really????? LOL.

  • Cry, lie in the morning. Cover the short in the afternoon. Under valued when considering the growth and the fact there is no debt. Each new store makes a strong profit in the first year of operation and returns over 100% ROI ( Return on investment ) I have never seen this before. What a formula.

You pegged it. While I can not see into the future as far as stock prices exact value , I can say as a trend follower and an expert in retail enterprise there is only one retailer who is better and they do not even compete on any level and that is AMZN. The big difference is that SBUX makes bucket fulls of money and treats their employees and vendors very. very well. And the result is that the customers love this company as it is a way of life not just a consumable. Very few companies have this kind of consumer relationship. Very few. Can anyone name another ? If so post it because I want to own it as well.

  • The only thesis I have read that makes sense to me was from Fabricone1. I decided to post it again.
    1.. Proven Business Model
    2.Strong management Team
    3. Growth of revenues and profits in a lackluster economy.
    4. Acceleration of growth when economy improves beginning in 2 nd quarter
5.Developed infrastructure to provide for rapid growth through state of the art distribution centers
    6. New store growth strategy working very well as stores pay for themselves in under one year
    7.No debt
    8. Developing e-commerce sales
    9. Stated view of management for 2000 new stores
    10. Free leveraged cash flow is very positive
    11. Strong US Dollar is good for gross margin and import program.
    12. Enhanced Board of Directors providing specific experience in key areas of growth and HR development.
    13. Balance sheet is extremely solid
    14. Large short position will prove to be a plus as there is a beautiful trap forming where it will be difficult to exit preserving profits and driving stock prices higher.
    15. Excellent buy ratings from respected investment institutions.
    16. Strong institutional ownership of shares.
17.Industry has displayed some interest in consolidation of Dollar Store companies.
    18. Could be a target in the future but I would prefer the company be allowed to grow out independently.
    19. Compounded annual growth rate of only 20% will double the company every 3.5 years .
    20. Company is actually growing faster than this rate so there is a safety cushion in my calculation.
Driven by a superb business model and excellent management. Vision + Plan = Superior execution = Major success from here.

Excellent post. These are points that I have tried to make along with some others over the last year here. There are several posters here that appear to be consistent in the long view who normally have something useful to say. The short posts really are by the same one or two rookie investors who sound like lightweight kids rather than any real knowledge or skill sets.

The Chinese alone will probably sell at least 10 million units. The great news is this will generate more I-Phone units. Downgrades are only building the coil for an upward explosion may not even rest until it passes 137.Probably runs to 160 before year end. Earnings report will be sensational. The retail stores are going to have a smoking hot 12 months.

The business model is actually enhanced with a stronger dollar. The benefit of better costs as they fully develop their direct import program. The more they manage their import supply chain on a direct basis the better the values and the better for their margins and total control over the quality of the product selected. This is the best retail play for a long ramp based on the profitable growth model that has been proven as an effective multi market strategy. Now it is stronger as a new CEO has grabbed the reins and will stand well on the shoulders of the Founders and their excellent vision. This company will continue to open 20% new square footage every year and could possibly accelerate somewhere down the line as they have brought new Board Directors in that have specialized in growing organizations through proper development and recruitment of human capital. The reason shorts exist here is hard to justify at this point but they will become a friend to the long cause over time as the course and trend of the company is pretty well established. This means regardless of short shenanigans the stock price will continue to rise over the long term as it is a very simple calculation to see that even at a little over 20% annual growth will compound the rate providing a company that is twice its' current size in under 4 years. This is significant and there is no effective argument against this thesis . In fact the only argument is the shorts' claim they simply can not do it because of ? ( List whatever you like as the list of nonsense that has been posted here or on Seeking Alpha ) Facts are the longer the trends maintain the more certain the results.

Notice the long positions do not spend a lot of time writing fiction and hiding behind a lot of lies and half truths that the short side likes to provide. Further a short recently posted a thesis that generally agreed with my growth projections and said he would buy at $20. Ha ha funniest short post of all time.

  • unfortunately other than an egocentric charm based personality was a blessing and a damnation at the same time. Unfortunately the evil twin Dove Dark won out and screwed his investors and lenders. Do not be surprised to see a reorganization filed here. The new CEO is on the right track but due to the way Charney manages and still interferes he is harming the corrective actions she is taking to attempt to upright the company. It is unfortunate but there is far too much to be done and too little time and outside of the new CEO too little talent . Too many Dove corrupted associates remain and no doubt are undermining the turnaround.

The shorts have lied so many times they even pretend to be long from time to time and act so disappointed . Truthfully I read a stupid blog yesterday that while underestimating the company's future admitted that it had tremendous value at a $20 stock price. That was so funny. He totally miscalculated the CAGR ( lower of course ) and even then his valuation argument would be over $40 . Too funny these shorts. This is why I can make a living off retail stocks. I do understand them very well from a financial, marketing, and strategic point of view better than most of the analysts. As I live it.

The weather has had some effect on comps as they have a large number of their stores in the frigid North East. So it is clear the quarter had a slower start. You should be careful though on shorting as the weather is turning and they are opening 70 new stores and each store meets the over all corporate revenue average in the first year and generates an EBITDA over $500K and makes an ROI of over 100% in the first year of operation. So the comps are important but when understanding what caused the comps to slide a bit I am not concerned as the snow and bad weather has abated. Soon the Spring weather will shift to a tailwind . The key to understanding this is understanding the retail business. Not one short understands it very well. So if you are short carry on but you have been warned. I know most shorts are very short in their time frame of the trade but I believe they promised low and will beat just as they did last quarter. Be careful. I am up over 25% on the shorts over playing their aggressiveness and I do not think that is over yet. Near term Target 12 months or less $44.

You are correct this can be a $100 stock in the future. No one competes with them in this space. That is why they can generate around $2Million in a new store right out of the gate.Their prototype is a nice size only 7500 square feet so they can easily find locations in nearly any market they want to enter at a nice rent.Great productivity for a store that chares no more than $5 for the most expensive items they sell. Now they are also focusing on -line to extend their business model. Anderson. the CEO has a terrific background in e-tail as he headed that for Walmart.
