Yeah, those gussied up lead-acid batteries are gonna take over the world!
Ooooh, good point on this possibly being a Levine project. He definitely goes for the heavy philosophical narratives.
I was thinking about the lack of an aerial component to RDR . . . perhaps they should add hot air balloons! That would be simple cute little addition.
Map could be legit. Who knows? Doesn't really reveal much. Could be an intentional leak for free press . . . I like the fact that there is a "New Bordeaux" so there is some cross-over with Mafia 3. Perhaps this was a way to use Rockstar to provide some stealth marketing for Mafia 3?
Yeah, if those claims from the lawsuit saying that GTA Online is bringing in so much money, they may allow products to stay in the oven and get more polish. I'm starting to think that they want to make the RDR sequel into a game almost as successful as GTA V so they are putting more work into RDR and making sure it will have a good online component too. Though without being able to use aerial vehicles, it will be more limited.
That's nice. I hope it is a big hit . . . I suspect it will do pretty well as 2K Czech are good, the people running Hangar 13 are good, and TTWO has pushed really hard for high quality on all products. But TTWO launching Mafia 3 in October probably means that we are not going to see the RDR sequel this year. :-/ Perhaps they are setting up RDR for a release next March?
Kobe Bryant’s NBA® 2K17 Legend Edition is currently the 4th best-selling game at Amazon . . . it doesn't come out until September. Yeah, I don't think EA's Live is going to have a real come-back this year.
Both GTA V and NBA 2K16 are selling better than Call of Duty . . . Activision am cry.
I still wish TTWO could buy the MLB 16: The Show development team from Sony so they could make MLB 2Kn but be multi-platform.
GTA V is an unstoppable beast
Tom Clancy's The Division (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
Far Cry: Primal (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD (Wii U)
Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)
UFC 2 (PS4, Xbox One)
MLB 16: The Show (PS4, PS3)
Pokken Tournament (Wii U)
NBA 2K16 (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PSe)
Call of Duty: Black Ops III (Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3, PC)
Minecraft (360, PS4, Xbox One, PS3)
I have a hard time believing this . . . but according to things in
the Benzies lawsuit :
As part of former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies' $150 million lawsuit against Take-Two, it's been revealed that GTA Online has generated "at least" $500 million in revenue from microtransactions.
Holy smokes if true. No wonder they feel no urgency to ship product and are polishing up the RDR sequel. They want to create another golden goose.
I can't see Benzies being that indispensable. RDR is out of San Diego whereas Benzies is across the world over in Scotland. I'm sure he's a good guy but there are lots of people will to step up.
They should be able to sell a lot of copies of that $80 edition.
Benzies lawsuit . . . ugh. Not the kind of distraction that Rockstar needs. :-(
Someone know something? The legs of GTA V and NBA 2K16 are allowing TTWO to really polish the upcoming products in the pipeline such that they should be guaranteed hits. Well, at least the RDR sequel will be . . . can't really go wrong with that current GTA V engine. I have high hopes for Mafia 3 too though. It won't be GTA/RDR big but if the engine is good and the story is good then it should do pretty well. I think it will have a great soundtrack that will add a lot of atmosphere. I still greatly miss NHL 2Kn but I guess it had to be sacrificed due to the criminally low popularity of the great sport of hockey in the USA.
Oh, I think the Bioshock franchise is very much still alive. I just don't think the sales prospects for the older Bioshock games is as good as RDR since they've all been on the PC and on sale many times. But you bring up a good point, there is a lot of good DLC that many people have not played yet and perhaps that will draw people to remaster. Minerva's Den from Bioshock 2 got great reviews.
They might do Bioshock but I don't think it would sell all that well. All 3 Bioshock games have been out for for a while, all have been for sale on the PC, and all 3 have been through many steam sales where they could be picked up for cheap. So I could see them putting all 3 games on a disc and selling that as a remaster but I don't think it would sell all that well. The fact that RDR was never released on the PC makes it a much better game for an HD remaster.
Yeah, these rumors need to be taken with a grain of salt. But releasing an HD remaster makes so much sense that it would be crazy if they don't do it.
1) They reportedly had a PC version running when they shipped the game but they never shipped the PC version. Since both current HD consoles are x86 based, it should be relatively easy to port it.
2) There will be good demand for a remaster.
3) The remaster makes great marketing for the upcoming sequel.
4) They have not released as an xbox360 backwards-compatible title.
5) They can make it a nice sizeable remaster since it can be shipped with the Undead nightmare DLC.
It is the HD remake that I am most excited about. It shouldn't cost them much at all since they supposedly had a PC version up and running when they released the game but they didn't release the PC version. A nice HD remake will sell real big. There are still lots of people that never played the original . . . and a number that wouldn't mind playing through again.
