I am confused. Retail sales in shopping centers are seeing declining sales because consumers are spending less to increase their savings accounts. Oil prices heading up again to raise gasoline prices back up. Interest rates slowly but surely going back to more normal rates. And yet the spending craze by Joan and John Q. Public at full service restaurants doesn't seem to be sending more people down to the quick serve option where the consumer may spent 1/2 to 1/3 of what they spend out of pocket for full serve meals. I understand NOT why Wendy's isn't benefiting more from this recent spending trend change.

First time in my 45 years of investing in the stock market that I have EVER lost $150,000 on a single stock in one day! Oh well. And to think that in my area all the concern of late has been tornadoes taking out our homes, but then a SELLING TORNADO hits my Wendy's stock! And for reasons which I don't totally understand! After reading the 1st quarter earnings report before the market opened, I expected a modest INCREASE in the Wendy's stock! I hope it was just an ex wife of our new CEO who sold 12 million of her own shares of WEN stock today just to stick it to her ex husband! :-(

Several years ago I asked one of the local Wendy's location franchise owners why Wendy's didn't offer the breakfast menu and he said Wendy's had tried it years earlier but that it didn't work when they tried it. Maybe breakfast is perceived to be the least needed meal of the day, so breakfast pricing may be the real "gotcha". And maybe that puts more costs into daily staffing from the present 14 or 15 hour challenge. I usually don't see many people at all between 8 and 11 pm in my local Wendy's locations, but maybe the plan is to expand that late day traffic while all the competitors are competing for the early morning (aka breakfast) traffic.. . . . . . . These thoughts should solidify the reality that I didn't make my living in the fast food business.

In a totally unrelated amazement, I am confused how Wendy's stock can open up strong most mornings, but then as the day goes on it trickles down from that strong opening. Is Wendy's management buying stock in the mornings and then the day trade short sellers are selling late in the mornings? But I would have to agree with you gunks on what you say above. It is all about the top line sales and bottom line earnings. I am still optimistic about both growing steadily in coming quarters.

We need to encourage that "serial thumbs-down perp" to attend the current political campaign speeches given by current presidential candidates!

Time for Wendy's to raze the dividend.

Why on earth would you want Wendy's to tear down, or demolish their dividend? Or did you mean "raise" the dividend?

I think I would be more interested in seeing new menu items that might inspire more lunch and especially DINNER customer traffic. The stock price target would then take care of itself. Oh, and I am in WEN at $5.51/share, so when WEN gets to $11.02/share I will be up 100% in WEN!

I am pretty sure that many people probably thought that the introduction of motorized power equipment, fork lifts, power saws, cranes, etc, meant that mankind was headed for unemployment and poverty. But "somehow" our planet managed to grow it's population to over 8 billion people at present.

OMG! Don't tell me gunks that you have now shorted WEN! Didn't you see the recent news that the Wendy's frosty has been found to be a cure for cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and toe nail fungus? (Yes, I am still long in WEN).

The important variable will be the decisions made, and how they are implemented in 2016 by the new CEO and of course the board members. And I hope there is attention given to the individual order takers who are often exposed to menu suggestions made by folks at the order desk.

I had dinner at a local Wendy's last evening, at about 5:45 pm, and as I was placing my order I looked around and there was not one table occupied behind me! I told the order taker that they need to figure out what menu items need to be added in order to stimulate evening dining, and his immediate reply was "others have asked us why we don't offer onion rings". I sure hope the new CEO will be more interested in expanding demand for dinner dining, and maybe listening to the fine folks who are working in the current Wendy's "lunch only rooms".

Maybe some DINNER items would make sense. When I go to my local Wendy's locations at dinner time I am sometimes the ONLY person dining inside. And that included the locations that have been "image activated"! Surely there could be some items that would draw in dinner guests.

The ONLY time I was tempted to give you a thumbs down was when you strongly implied that you were getting out of Wendy's for a while. Otherwise, thumbs up, up, up. And I hate to admit that I have been too lazy to research the DavCo lawsuit issue. My bad. My apologies.
