    LUV should preliminary plan for flights to Cuba. If fully opened, Cuba will be a huge market from S.E. Florida. LUV is constrained at FLL. MCO is a nightmare due to the number of pax now. LUV can expand at PBI and should at least add the PBI-TPA flight back so more pax can connect easier to other destinations.

    LUV should look at expanding into Homestea and Melbourne, FL.. While Miami would be nice, it is a strong an American hub . While LUV could take them on, why do that when an airport (Homestead) is nearby that has no one flying out of it and Melbourne is near enough to Orlando to draw pax from there?

    LUV can expand to Cuba and the caribbean, central and south america easily from Melbourne, PBI and Homestead

    Does LUV use Boeing's wind management system? ALK does and seems to be getting significant fuel savings from it.

    I had not heard LUV was purchasing ALK equipment. While buying -800's I have wondered why LUV has not also purchased the -900's. But who knows? They may still get access to it if the 2 CEO's and Boards would think about merging and carry it out.

    Doubt a merger with JBLU as the fleet types are not compatible.

    I have been hoping for a merger with ALK or WJA. Both have advantages and disadvantages. I personally favor ALK.

    Having just flown JBLU for the first time PBI-BOS RT, in my opinion, there are too many boarding groups.

    Handicapped, pax needing more time, families with kids under 2 years old, first class, mint etc etc etc. Regular pax are screwed under JBLU's current boarding protocol.

    This flight will most likely be my last on JBLU.

    This is a personal preference as I do own the stock and will continue to hold it - after all, business is business and personal is personal. I also own LUV (thousands and thousands of shares bought since the 1980's) and ALK (moderate holding).

    LUV - merge (not buyout) ALK. If the desire to maintain only one aircraft type is overwhelming - spin off or sell Horizon Air.

    The advantages far outweigh the negatives. And, the AirTran integration is ending.

    I agree - the $ 12MM would be lost in the round up of financial accounting. Still, LUV should not roll over and become a cash cow for the greedy, broke federal government. And, with lawyers on staff and retainers, it gives them something to do and perhaps lower the fine.
