  • I assume these are penny clippers making the market today in PACD, no reason to go long

I dont see how oil going to $30 is something bad for bagholders, ehm i mean retail investors. I dont know any one who has a basement full of oil hurting from the fall in prices. As long as the big boys are stockpiling that excess oil the price wont take a $20 hit anytime soon.

It is fortunate that Fartman can be long tanker stocks since he has nothing else of any length to speak of

  • PACD shares are cheap in my opinion if you look at the companies financials but there is no reason that the shorts cant trade them lower to make more money, so it seems a really hard ask to buy even now. We need to see $60+ oil again with stable outlook to see PACD and its peers attracting any kind of contract signings and for investors to buy back into the shares at reasonable prices.

Why did the Company do the financing at 4.80/share? The market is clearly indicating that the value of the shares is greater than what those 20m shares were gifted away for.

At what price where those options issued again when Klondex bought Midas?
Was it CAD 1.25 or CAD 1.20 per share?

    Thanks

Dividend is already approved for 2015, buyback of shares is part of the 152m that is approved, so it is intact and the BoD cant reverse course without shareholder meeting approving to nullify it. 2016 however nothing is proposed or approved yet so 2015 might be the only year PACD pays dividend for a long time. On the positive side, the lower people are abandoning their shares in PACD the less risky it becomes. 3.50 I would consider it a definite strong buy. Lets hope it gets there in Jan :)

    DRYS up PACD down

I disagree with you. Lower oil price means less projects that are economical, so less demand for drillers and less Oil Cos will bid on those contracts to make them economical. The older rigs will have their lives extended with some additional capex that operators will draw from the budgets to renew their fleets as short term maintenance is cheaper than buying new rigs to operate long term.

I know you are talking about long term investment in the company, but I dont see what you see in it for the long term, what do you think will make it go up in value/price?

I have 2 more specific questions for Jack:
How do PACD's ships compare to those of the competition in terms of efficiency? Are they still worth the premiums paid in 2013?

    DRYS up PACD down

Well those healthy additions of yours must be painful you made a while back ;)
PACD bounced of the technical resistance today and therefore is giving a bearish signal. Not sure if to go short here but I still dont feel comfortable going long. DRYS still has some upside to 1.35 in my opinion, PACD is at a cross road, either traders take it through 5.05 again and it can go to 6.15 or it fails and goes to 4.45 or 3.60 in the coming days or weeks, who knows. I dont think the odds are in PACD favor.
PACD needs the oil price to go up $15-25 for that contract you are hoping for to be in its favor...

    Sentiment: Strong Sell

  • Seems DRYS stock is a better bargain even after the current bounce in its stock. PACD is not the place to be even though it hit my target off 4.80 I dont see much upside short term.
