British Columbia regulators have accepted an environmental permit application for the 187MW Meikle wind farm, kicking off a six-month review.
Pattern Energy bought the Peace Region project from BC developer Finavera Wind Energy, as reported by reNews. The proponent has combined two separate developments, 117MW Meikle and 60MW Bullmoose, into a single project.
Pattern aims to start construction in late 2014 and wrap up by November 2016.
According to regulatory filings the project will include up to 68 turbines that will vary in size and output. Noise modeling studies were based on Siemens machines.
The project includes a 34.5kV/230kV substation, a four-kilometer 230kV transmission line and a switchyard at the point of interconnection with a BC Hydro line.
The development is located on provincial Crown land in the eastern foothills of the Rocky Mountains. It lies within the traditional territory of five First Nations.
Meikle has a 25-year electricity purchase agreement with BC Hydro.
Provincial environment regulators will hold a public open house on 3 and 4 December. Comments may be submitted from 29 November 2013 to 13 January 2014.
I understand and agree. We are assembling an opportunity that will be put to shareholders for a decision on the future of the Company. I am as frustrated saying this as you are likely to hearing it, but as soon as we have completed anything material it will be disclosed. For competitive reasons, it is best that we don't issue news on anything that is not fully baked at present.
Per Tom Konrad - According to Bak, they’re quiet b/c they are actively negotiating with BC Hydro and can’t talk about it until the negotiations are resolved. They are also working on a proposal to put to shareholders as to the use of funds from the Cloosh and Pattern transactions, but want to have it in final form before putting it before shareholders. From my discussion with him, Bak certainly seems to think that both the Cloosh and Pattern transactions will go through in their current form, but he could not give me anything concrete.
We're working on putting a transaction in front of shareholders, as soon as anything material is available it will be released. We continue to progress with the Pattern transaction as per our last press release and the discussion at our AGM.
I can’t say more other than please stand by.
