What did you hear? I am guessing nothing. I am guessing your purpose in posting that is to bring the stock down so you can either cover your short or buy the stock. It's sick what people will make up to make money.
We are going to wait until the initial euphoria wears off an then buy. I have loved EPL since I first moved to LA in 1988. I live in the midwest and miss it terribly. They briefly opened 3 locations here and they were in bad areas and they closed.
This is the Allstate board.
It's funny because every single year they warn of the 'worst hurricane season' in year. Eventually it will happen but it doesn't appear that it will be this year.
I don't know what your deal is. (Click on the name and see all the dire warnings by this poster).
I was betting the disgruntled former employee camp as well. I considered the didn't get a phony claim paid camp but I chose the former.
Haha. Yes, I am aware. I live in the midwest and we have had a record mild winter. I don't think anyone who lives in the midwest isn't aware of the unusual weather we have had this year. And I am aware that most of the big hurricanes happen later in the season. Just because the weather has been unusually mild in the US this year doesn't mean a blowout hurricane season. I don't see the correlation.
Hurricane season starts in June and it has been almost nonexistent so far this year, like last. There are usually several hurricanes a year...maybe not Andrew or Katrina level. They don't have a big impact on the bottom line. Ernesto isn't expected to hit the US. You can track the hurricanes by going to the this website: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/. It tells you the projected path and where it is expected to hit. But you didn't really want to know all of that, right? You just wanted to bash Allstate.
I think we are going to see a huge run up in the financials in the next 1-2 years. They have been beaten up so badly, they have no place to go but up. It can't be any worse than the current administration's anti business philosophy.
You don't get nothing in return. You get the assignment of risk. You get peace of mind. INsurance is not a savings account. It is assignment of risk (to someone else) for a finite period of time. If more people understood the very concept of insurance, people wouldn't post stupid comments like this.
