after the spin-off but the dividend will remain at 6 cents. If NAV drops then ........... discount to NAV closes to near zero so market price drops to show a 10%plus discount, increasing the yield but giving shareholders a haircut? Sell after November record date and buy after spin-off?

Thank you Top Cat. I appreciate your reply. Yes, like many investors I live my life in fear. I thought at one time that the quarterly stock dividend offered by SAN was non-dilutive. I thought the Bank sponsoring the ADR bought shares on the open market to issue to the ADR shareholders. Now I have read that the dividend is new shares offered by SAN. Do you have a view on this?

According to Yahoo they paid out about $1.17 last year (2013) and nothing this year (2014). Is that correct? Does the company have a dividend policy? The other Santander banks seem to (SAN, BSBR, BSAC). I have owned SAN several years. Should I just stick with the Mother Company?

This post turned out to be erroneous. I bought on Friday and didn't get the dividend. I did sell calls on my stock and I would have a profit if I had received the dividend. I don't know if you are a clown, or someone who misinterpreted his information or what but you cost me a few $. Your prior posts (which I checked before I bought) seemed to me to be thoughtful and accurate.
