As I am watching, the stock is dropping like a stone falling down a cliff.

It never ceases to amaze how stocks seem to go up when thousands of workers are laid off. Once before a merger was prevented between Office Max and Office Depot. But the Obama Administration has bowed down before the gods of capitalist profits. And so thousands of employees at Office Depot will lose their jobs with the closing of about 400 stores. And as these employees look through their fingers, the stock holders laugh all the way to the bank. Isn't something wrong with this picture?

    Sentiment: Sell

  • Check it out! This company has a bad record with regards to working conditions. It's odd that the government allowed ODP to merge with OMX, considering that such a merger was once blocked before. Now 400 stores have to close, and many employees lose their jobs. I wonder if these employees will also have ODP fight their meager unemployment benefits like they did before in Wisconsin. Yes, its slash all benefits, keep the buildings cold in the Winter and hot in the Summer, move the time clocks to the front of the stores, and look for excuses to fire employees so they don't have to be paid too much. Capitalism at its finest!

It was just on the news that odp is closing 400 stores. What a loser! 10,000 to 20,000 people to lose jobs on account of this lemon. You want to know how good this retail stock is? Work there. Then you'll see how bad the employees are treated.

    Sentiment: Strong Sell
