Intel closed AH at $26.96, down 8 cents from $27.04 regular closing price. Who could have possibly seen that coming!!!!!
"My guess would be a penny or two below $27".
If is VERY hard to figure out what is really happening and how negative/positive it is.
I think that this fits 100% with the Intel assertion that there would only be 3 companies who could afford the fabs: Intel, Samsung and TSMC. The article says that GF customers will have access to production plants in TX, NY and South Korea. According to a quick search, GF has a 300nm fab in Dresden, NY and Singapore. Samsung has fabs in South Korea and TX. Is Samsung become a FAB for GF? The "details" of the agreement were not released.
"Globalfoundries will license Samsung’s most advanced new chipmaking technology, called 14-nanometer FinFET, giving customers access to production at plants in Texas, New York state and South Korea. Terms of the accord weren’t disclosed. "
"Hooray...looks like Intel is losing its key structural advantage as competitors close the process gap"
No. It is Global Foundries latest confession of failure from an earlier "declaration of victory".
Chip manufacturing race between Intel, ARM tightening

The race to manufacture the most power-efficient and fastest chipsis gaining momentum, with contract chip manufacturer GlobalFoundries on Thursday announcing technology advances that analysts said could allow the company to catch up with Intel's chip-making capabilities by 2014.
... and ...
By 2014, GlobalFoundries also hopes to implement 3D transistors, which could deliver a 40 percent to 60 percent boost to battery life on devices compared to chips based on the 20-nm process, which will have 2D transistors and be made in 2013. Intel was the first to implement 3D transistors in chips made using the 22-nm process.
Close of $27? You were wrong!!! Just like me. 8-)
30k of the 75k open $27 call options traded. Those who did not want shares to be assigned to/from them, close or rolled out the contracts. 5m shares traded in the last minute or two.
This is different and I like it.
Today is monthly options expiration and buyers are chewing through the supply at $27 but the call writers look like they are rolling out the $27 strike calls they wrote. My guess would be a penny or two below $27.
The INTC sell off has normally occurred during the conference call. INTC would end AH $1 lower than close. This time INTC was very volatile but ended AH UP. That is very different that the last several earnings calls. A single day has been more than enough to tank.
It appears that the market is worried less about the $1B "bribes" than you are.
Today, the option writers are rolling out the $27 calls and INTC should finish the day pegged to $27.
"nice legacy you'll leave behind"
I hope so. I also hope that you are able to also.
"Why are Liberals often such hypocrites?"
The same reasons that Conservatives are often such hypocrites.
"No wonder this world has so much skum in it (John Edwards)."
There is certainly worse #$%$" in the world than John Edwards. He certainly is a "Liberal" but to apply a cause-effect relationship with his behavior is a stretch.
I am not sure how I would prove that Fox News is the best and without equal as a news source. If you don't think they are the best, then that is OK. Can you show proof that they are not the best and without equal?
It looks like ASML released their information at 1am ET. Is that when you saw INTC drop?
ASML Q1 2014 sales in line with guidance, gross margin above guidanceThomson Reuters ONE (Wed 1:01AM
Gross margins were raised 1%. I think that is what the market is reacting to.
WMD??? That is substantial bigger, more costly lie in terms of $$$ and in human lives.
The Obamacare law exempted and grandfathered ALL health plans in effect when the law was approved. Health insurance companies were required to offer them either directly to their customers or through the exchanges. The "big lie" is the parade of people by Fox News who claimed heath care problems but were then immediately debunked as "inaccurate".
"End of story."
If only ..... everyone will still have to listen to these groundless arguments. This year, the 20 states that declined Medicaid expansion will take a large block grant reduction. Example, Oklahoma Federal Medicare support is reduced by 18% of their total state budget. OK hospital unpaid bills will skyrocket and their health costs for OK citizens will take a substantial pop next year. It will not be fun to be in those states.
Those states by losing the Medicare funds and then not taking the offsetting Medicaid expansion funds, will make healthcare cost less everywhere. Go figure. They make Obamacare more successful by punishing their own poor.
"how to lie with statistics"
The Democrats may know how, but the GOP and its mouthpiece "FOX News" are without equal.
House GOP, INCLUDING Tea Party, passes "Obamacare fix" by voice vote. Voice vote so there would be NO EVIDENCE that they supported health care. The GOP is committed to getting rid of Obamacare BUT will not speak of the specific parts that would go under.
House GOP quietly passes bill to expand coverage choices under ObamaCare

Originally, O-Care placed caps on deductibles in plans offered by small businesses, which meant less flexibility for employers in what they could offer their workers. That’s bad news for young and healthy employees who don’t visit the doctor much and would have preferred a plan with low premiums and a higher deductible. It’s also bad news for people who use health savings accounts to make high deductibles more affordable. So, last week, the House leadership agreed to insert a provision in the “doc fix” bill (the one that “passed” via a rigged, bogus voice vote) to eliminate the cap. Business wanted it, Democrats wanted it, the Republican leadership wanted it — but did the House GOP rank and file want it?
Some of your postings make some sense. Others make no sense.
Here Come Da Drop, INTC RED soon

Just like olde INTC. Looks great until it don't.
marco the great :-) sorry to spoil your party kiddies, but, just like a 90 year olde man, INTC just can't seem to keep it uppity.
Just dropped in to remind y'all

Earnings won't be good, that's why the BTOs of WS set Yinz up for a plunge. In case Yinz haven't noticed, INTC always runs uppity before earnings, then, corrects to more fundamental levels. Err, that's the spin term, should be cra$h to more fundamental levels.
Don't forget ..... 5m shares trading at 52-week high during AH ..... that must be really frustrating.
Cody is someone less pessimistic than GS Covello. He has a $20 target.
Interesting that AH sales on picked up substantially when Stacy Radgon asked his questions. Nice coordination.
You have to wait until the conference call is over. Intel traditionally drifts down during the call and can easily give back all the gains plus more.
There was 50,000 calls and puts for Apr 19th trade today. The calls at $26 and $27 and the puts at $$26.50 and $26.00.
