Samsung sells cheap #$%$ to poor people in developing countries. In the U.S., Japan and China Apple is cleaning Samsung's clock!
When the two larger iphone 6 comes out in June/July the Chinese will buy them in droves. That's not even factored in.
Apple was down 5.00 on a day that it should have been up 12.00 on the 18th when the market skyrocketed. That's a 17.00 swing in one day.
Should be classic as those stooges on Fast Money try to find a way to spin this negatively.
You need to do a little research on Apple. Apple told Wall Street a year ago that they would provide a earnings rage and that earrings would definitely be within that range. They did this because Apple used to blow-out numbers after sandbagging guidance and made all of the analysts look stupid.
Apple promised Wall Street they would no longer sandbag earnings. We all know this quarter has been a blockbuster and will greatly exceed the guidance range. This guidance range has only been in effect for 1 year. Last quarter Apple guided higher in the last week of the quarter. I expect this to happen again, only the guidance will be much higher this time.
I expect you to not get a job and remain in your parent basement playing video games and going through a lot of hand cream until you are 40.
Not sure about the gift cards. Hardware however is recorded when it is sold (if sold through an Apple store which are 25% of all Apple hardware sales) and when the product is shipped to other retailers. However, not all of the revenue is booked. A portion is deferred and realized over several subsequent quarters depending on the hardware. Apple actually increased its deferral percentages on all hardware i.e. iPhones, iPads, macs at the end of last quarter. That is a very positive sign because it tells you they are confident they can beat the estimates while still deferring an increased portion of revenues from the current quarters hardware sales. There revenue deferrals serve as a fusion for future quarters are the deferred revenues will have to be realized ratably over the next 4-8 quarters depending on the hardware product.
