  • Im interested in some of the shareholders opinions on the proposed gas pipeline that KMI would like to run through Central Massachusetts. Each and every town has voted against the pipeline, but as business and politics go hand in hand, KM has said they will take this to the government for approval. Gov. Patrick has said he supports the pipeline, but its not running directly through his backyard. Homeowners in the area state their property value would drop 30-50% and I've heard that home insurance companies would no longer insure the homes that the pipeline runs through or is near. KM has at these town meetings stated that the company would cover the property values that are directly affected by the pipeline, but the surrounding value will drop as well as the values of the affected properties drop. For a shareholder position it is lucrative, as the expansion will surely equate to profit. From a homeowners position, theyre ready to shoot whoever puts a shovel in the dirt, literally.
