Yes, Apple did make some dumb decisions. Early on Steve Jobs turned over the reins to that Pepsi guy and he nearly backrupted the company. But he learned BIG from that mistake and today's Apple is a far cry from THAT mistake. MCP is another matter, however. The Chinese have lower costs and will keep that efficient Mt Pass mine closed for the forseeable future.

No matter what "posterizing" China does for political purposes, they are not about to jepordize their trade relationship with the US. Their low-cost labor will still provide low prices for whatever they produce in the way of REEs. besides, that Mt Pass mine will not produce the REE that is in relative demand (heavy).
