This dog is screeming new 52 week low soon.

My simple question is why? Absolutely no reasons in either the numbers or comments. LNG is a play on the future. GMLP is a play several years out. In the meantime LNG will slowly build. Sucker rally? Where? Certainly not with GMLP.

The other comments are correct. ETE has a probable CAGR of about 15% for the next 6-8 years. After that it falls to twice ETP or about 10%. This is for distributions. Thus large upside and for long term buy and hold owners you get a great return. The downside is any miss or slowing in the rate of distribution increases and ETE gets hit and hit hard. It indeed is perception into the future. FWIW I own both ETP and ETE. Would not buy more either at today's prices.

The BOD votes in very late September or early October for the next distribution. They will have most of the Q3 numbers. Most BOD keep intentions pretty close with current SEC regs. We will see. Either a declaration of a policy change or they continue with .01 increases. Could certainly go either way.

Why are there so many troly stupid comments?

AMPE posted what happened and the data - all of it - will be sent to the FDA. AMPE has a legal claim against the shipper who obviously is bonded. The FDA is likely to accept at least part of the results of the STEP study in that any results would liely show less efficacy because of the temperature. AMPE does not have the results, but they should be coming shortly and everyone will be interested in how things look. If the results are good then with the current study things are likely to go forward as the protocol break was not caused by AMPE and does not appear to greatly change the results.

The husksters who shout FDA investigation are idiots. FDA investigates fraud - this isn't fraud but stupidity and negligence by a shipping company. Let's simply wait and see the results.

Actually I am simply stating the written BOD policy that distributions will be in even penny amounts that the BOD made a couple years ago. Unless they change that policy, EPD would either have no increase (cannot see them doing that) or an increase of .01. Yes, that effectively doubles the CAGR.

Do not think it makes any difference if it is a .005 increase and a .005 special, but EPD responded to a question maybe 18 months ago and said they would only do even penny increases. The result would stil be a .10 increase in one year for the run rate and a doubling of the CAGR to about 10%. Over time this would slowly decrease as it has done over the last 6 or 7 years for EPD with their .01 increases.

Marcus was refused permits to do that much dredging a year or so ago. The will be limited to much shallower draft ships. Cannot see that one changing.

Wrong. We actually have no idea what the rate will be going forward. If the EPD BOD continues their existing policies the run rate beginning with the Novem\ber payout would be .37. The old payout was .72 and divide by 2 and add .01 for their normal increase. The reason for .37 is the EPD BOD declared some years ago that distribution increases would be made in even penny amounts and raised by an extra 1/2 cent that quarter. It is possible they will change and raise by a lesser amount, but personally I would be surprised as EPD has plenty of DCF and this would protect them against rising interest rates.

unclelarry - why not have MLPs and stocks in the same account? Each MLP sends you a K-1 for your taxes and the broker a 1099 for the rest. Also if you are on the EPD DRIP you can receive both fractional shares and you get a 5% discount on the purchase each quarter.

Brokers I have spoken with say most are waiting on EPB to collect one more distribution. Then reexamine and either sell or convert. You are correct that if it looks like it could go into 2015 then we swill get lots of partial sales (like 1/3 of position) in 2014 and the bigger block in 2015 to split the tax hit. Could really help a bunch of holders with the way the Obama care tax kicks in.

Agree. My questions are why only discovered now? If the shipments were frozen that certainly would have effected the outcome. Thus Fraudstein has neglected to say this, but again why only find this now? If shipping is the issue then should not the shipping company be responsible for incurred costs?

Low temps reduce the efficacy of Ampion. No change to placebo. The problem is nobody knows what happens at 32F. Would guess that this mostly makes al the data worthless. Another in a long string of issues. Very disappointing.

    Fractional Shares

And on the exchange for KMI shares you will get cash in lieu of fractional shares.

  • arbtrdr arbtrdr Aug 21, 2014 12:38 AM Flag

No it does not. The cash belongs to KMP and KMR and KMI is buying all the assets of those companies. Whatever cash is on the books goes with the rest of the assets. KMP is getting a cash adjustment to assist in paying taxes due for its shareholders. KMR holders get more units. If the distribution was increased by the couple of pennies for the cash left then you would simply get a bit less in either cash for the buyout or units.

Yup. Lots of people locking in gains on all or part of KM companies. Others including EPD and BWP showing steady movement lately. I do not subscribe to the monthly preformance theory, but there really is no news in September and first part of October. Distribution and earnings news/payout seems to spur prices upward.

    A Tax Question About ETP

    by retired_forever_more Jul 9, 2014 3:40 PM

Go to the National Association of Publically traded Partnerships and read their primer on MLPs 101. you should have read it BEFORE you bought. That said. Filing taxes using a K-1 and TTax for example only takes a few minutes. The only big suggestion is do not sell part of your uints. Selling part of them makes tax filing much more complicated.

I have also read we have aliens living in our cities. Would love to know your source of information. The only big thing going right now is buying Susser and then ETP can indeed sell Susser off along with the Sunoco stores and make money. Susser's distribution business fits ETPs existing businesses. Getting rid of retail simplifies ETP.

KMI will pay qualified dividends. Top rate there is 20% + the Obama Tax if income is over $400K AGI. The big difference is there is no recapture to deal with on exiting. Both ways have advantages.

With Congress discussing ending the stepup on death for tax exempt entities / MLPs does that change the equation? I do not know.
